I have pretty mixed feelings about The Matrix sequels. Both have certain scenes that are great, but both also have some cringe inducing moments. The Matrix Reloaded is kind of a mess, The Matrix Revolutions feel incomplete and doesn't stand on its own at all. The one thing I don't really get about the reactions is why so many people seem to think Revolutions is vastly inferior to Reloaded, I'd say they're both equally flawed/good.

Revolution is a "war movie" and I think that turns people off.

The Architect scene was my favourite part of the second film. Up until that point it had been what everyone wanted to see: Neo doing cool shit as The One. Then it dropped two insane twists in the form of Neo being the sixth "anomaly" and being able to control the machines in the "real world".
Probably my favourite cliffhanger(s) ever. Too bad Revolutions didn't capitalise on the infinite possibilities that were thrown up.

I wonder how much of Revolutions was changed at the last minute after the negative reaction to Reloaded. I mean, you're right, the movie never took advantage of the things it set-up.

Weren't they filmed back-to-back and released six months apart? They can't have changed much, if they changed anything.

Weren't they filmed back-to-back and released six months apart? They can't have changed much, if they changed anything. I have to re-watch it, but I remember Revolution being more action-heavy than Reloaded. I mean, I don't remember Revolution having an actual story. It just seemed like a bunch of action scenes held together by Neo's quest to sacrifice himself for mankind. You know, like Jesus. So it's possible that a lot of stuff may have been left on the cutting room floor just to give audiences the action-oriented movie they wanted instead of the sci-fi heavy one. Like you said, all those cliffhangers at the end of Reloaded didn't really get a proper resolution. They were VERY half-assed.

You know, after all these years, I still haven't seen Revolutions. I loved The Matrix, saw Reloaded, and decided, "yeah, that's enough of that."
Kinda funny for the guy that used to be the mod of the Matrix sub-board.

Time is more like a ball of yarn. A flat circle would mean that you would be doing the same things you have done before in order - not always true. With a ball of yarn you have many points from which you may jump from one path that touches to another

Ramplate: Blowing minds since 1894AD. That's only because I'm a vampire. A ball of yarn also explains the Fixed Points in Time theory from Doctor Who - not every piece of yarn connects with every other point, although I suppose you could jump over and over in a complicated web of time streams, but finding the right sequence would be neigh impossible (making it very difficult to jam a leg of lamb into Hitler's mouth)
