Call me crazy, but The Life Aquatic is boring as hell and not worth the time.

Agreed. That's not crazy
Call me Crazy but I love watching "The Matrix Reloaded" it's a great action movie if you don't try to follow the story or take it too seriously.
Revolutions is terrible still though

I'm with Cooper. Both sequels are great. And we literally had this conversation in the original thread.

They're far from bad. There are many action set pieces in both that are really well done.

They're far from bad. There are many action set pieces in both that are really well done. I'll repeat what I said in the original thread/discussion: The Matrix = Birth Reloaded = Life Revolution = Death Also, Deep down, people prefer The Matrix because it is an action movie with science-fiction thrown in. But the sequels were science-fiction with action thrown in. The Matrix, despite its intellectual reputation, is a very simple and straightforward movie. The sequels are the ones that got "complicated" by revealing that the machines were always in control and giving humans a false hope by repeating the same story over and over again. I watched The Matrix Reloaded in theaters. People were totally into the movie. Then Neo walks into the room with the architect and everyone's reaction was literally, "this is bullshit." The Matrix Revolution never had a chance.

Science fiction never has a chance. I don't think mainstream audiences like when science-fiction movies get TOO out-there. Telling audiences that The Matrix was just a loop and that Neo was "the one" because he was programmed to give false hope just left people with a bad taste in their mouth. They wanted the "hero saves the day" action movie, which is what the original Matrix was. The Wachowski's tried to rectify things by having Neo and Trinity destroy "the loop", but the fact that the architect and the oracle were walking around and saying to each other, "we'll see what happens" wasn't satisfying enough to most people.

I will admit the sequels are more scifi-esque.
But honestly Revolutions was really hard to swallow, it went way to dark. The fun of 1 and 2 and cool concept and style were no where to be found.
Also everyone we care about died. So... Yeah

I don't remember Revolution being that dark. But I get what you mean. It was more of a "war movie" than an action movie. I remember, at the time, I compared The Matrix Revolution to Lord of the Rings: Return of the King because both movies centered on the last battle.

The Architect scene is unfairly maligned. What's so bad about it? It's too complicated? No, not really. NE summed it up perfectly. It's all exposition? How ELSE would we learn all of this before the last movie? I've been a big defender of the trilogy for a long time now. Saveus, as well.

No they don't. But then we give them a hero in something like Edge of Tomorrow and they still don't bite. It's the most routinely underrated genre in film.

Tell any audience that their hero really isn't a hero. They won't be staying around for much longer.
