Diversity Day - Michael causes sensitivity training That’s the best one I used to think so, but it didn't really hold up this time around

I was surprised by it honestly. I thought the pilot would for sure be bottom, but I got more out of that one this time around.
Post your rankings of the 6.

I have a lot of opinions on The Office but I think it’s premature to share them, maybe after a few seasons are discussed. I will say that to this day I’m still disappointed at how a show that was so, so good shat the bed so hard as it went along.

They should have ended it after Carell left.

I actually liked some of the Robert California episodes. He was completely different from Michael Scott but I think the show needed to make a pivot. Didn't always work, but there's some good episodes in season eight.
Season nine is pretty much trash. And I hated the finale.

I liked the Robert California character more than I did the episodes he was in. I'll put it that way.

True, but I don't think many shows had as huge of a rise and as far of a plummet as The Office. The first few seasons has some of the best comedy ever aired on TV while the last couple are unwatchable. BUT I'll get into that as the thread moves along. Otherwise I'm re-watching the first season right now so I can more accurately rank the episodes.

Honestly, one of the things these full series rewatches do for me is help me come to terms with being able to accept these shows as some of my favourites while accepting that they are not perfect. Through doing this I'm able to reconcile the bad with the good and be okay with it.

I watch the occasional rerun on Comedy Central and the show was beginning to decline even before Steve Carell left. That’s probably what Doomsday is referring to. It’s easy to say, “Carell left and the show stunk” but I don’t think it’s that simple.

Steve Carell hadn’t figured out Michael Scott yet — and it’s pretty cringe to watch. What’s great about Diversity Day is that it’s the first episode to crack Michael Scott as a character.

I don't think the pilot is a great episode, but you said worst and there's episodes in season nine that say hello. Andy as the boss never worked. He wasn't funny anymore and he was just too much of a pushover to be an interesting authority figure.

That’s probably what Doomsday is referring to. It’s easy to say, “Carell left and the show stunk” but I don’t think it’s that simple. Bingo. The Office was on its way out before, way before Carrell left. Ed Helms is terrible in general Andy is one of the shows biggest failures. Not only did they never crack him as a character, they never knew what to do with him at all. It's what I like to call Screech Syndrome. In Saved By The Bell they always wavered between Screech being a weird genius or being completely retarded, it just depended on what the episode needed him to be. Likewise Andy wavered between being crazy to being an idiot to being a hopeless romantic to being sympathetic to being downright pathetic and then at the end the writers just threw up their hands and said 'whatever.' His character ended up being such a waste and I don't fault Ed Helms, at least not entirely. But we'll get to Andy down the road.

I rewatch the entire series every year. I also listen to the Office Ladies podcast during my daily exercise. One of my favorite shows that holds up with each run-through.
Post-Carell show was enjoyable, but I echo sentiments about the last season - the Jim/Pam line got weird, the 4th wall with the production crew was broken and kind of strange, I hated Plop and Erin, Andy's character was driven into the ground and just an awful storyline. I think Erin's character was a mess in general, truth be told. I liked the finale fine, though.

Yeah, that Jim/Pam storyline in the last season came out of nowhere and just overall felt unnecessary.

The production crew was easily my least favorite story element in the entire series. Hated everything about it.
