Story:  Wanna-be comedian Arthur Fleck is struggling to make ends meet and take care of his mentally ill mother.  After losing his job as an entertainment clown, a depressed Arthur finds himself harassed by three upper class thugs on his way home and he kills them in self defense.  Getting away without getting caught, Arthur sees that his crime is inspiring violence in the streets, causing lower-class people to dress up as clowns and cause chaos in a retaliation against the wealthy.  As Arthur struggles with his mental health and his identity, late night talk show host Murray Franklin sees Arthur's terrible stand-up act and mocks him on his show.  The response to Arthur's footage and the mockery at his expense becomes surprisingly popular, and Murray invites Arthur on the show.  Arthur accepts, intending to put on a show nobody will ever forget.

Pros:  PG Cooper 's favorite comic book movie.

Story:  Earthling Peter Quill is taken from Earth as a child and grows up to be a lesser known galactic "outlaw" Starlord.  His latest salvage from an alien temple is a mysterious orb that houses a powerful object on the inside.  Quill becomes the target of the feared Titan Thanos, who sends the conquerer Ronan to fetch the orb along with his daughters Gamora and Nebula.  But as the retrieval of the orb from Quill goes awry, Quill, Gamora, and two scam artists in anthropomorphic raccoon Rocket and living tree Groot wind up in prison.  The quartet come up with an escape plan and make a getaway with the aid of Drax, a survivor of the raids by Ronan and Thanos who swears revenge against both.  The newly formed quintet then discover that the orb contains an "Infinity Stone," one of the most destructive forces in the universe.  With no intention of letting it fall in the hands of Ronan or Thanos, the group must learn to function as a unit to save the galaxy. 

Pros:  Hey, remember that time when Vin Diesel harassed Marvel through PR to get them to cast him in a movie and they were like "Fine, you're playing a tree" and Diesel was like "Joke's on you, I'm gonna make that tree the most beloved character in the movie."  Good times.
Cons:  "Take my hand, Peter" and "We are Groot."  Woof.
