I'm not a huge Rocky fan but I understand its footprint on the culture. Keep.
I know everyone is gonna vote Unforgiven in, but I don't care about it and dont really see why others do. Cut that beotch.

Ian I'm bummed that MASH is gone too but let's not take that out on Unforgiven.
Keep both.

Calling it, Rocky (8-0) and Unforgiven (7-Ian) are in. Final nomination round incoming.
I'll post the grid of everyone's last 3 nominees in a bit.
There are six vacancies, we will each nominate up to four films, but vote on seven, top six proceeding.
I will give two days for the nomination round, and at least two for the voting.

Definitely keeping Azkaban and Se7en. I need to think whether I want to keep All That Jazz as well as what my fourth movie would be.

Barry Lyndon: I know we have a lot of Kubrick but this is a stone-cold classic. It's one of the best looking movies ever and a totally unique epic.
Brazil: One of the best science-fiction movies ever and also mad funny.
Once Upon a Time in the West: Arguably the best Western ever made and a fascinating mix of high and low culture.
The Terminator: Cameron's masterpiece.

Planet of the Apes - iconic science fiction Rebel without a Cause - great exploration of teen angst and parental legacy. was on the first list, dont know why it wasnt on this one Ghostbuster - iconic 80s Princess Bride - ultimate crowd pleaser, was able to capture a particular sense of tone and humour that is entirely unique

Terminator 2 - great leap in special effects
Avengers: Infinity War - an "all mcu" pick which i think is an achievement
Boyz N the Hood - representation matters, and I like seeing the Stand by Me influence. Probably one of Cuba Gooding only 2 good roles. Fishburne and Ice Cube are great.
Can I gauge support for Cool Hand Luke, The Great Escape, or Halloween here? I'm willing to take down T2 if two of these have support.

I basically just care about getting Badlands on. Probably won't even bother nominating anything else.

Come on. Halloween (1978)- The Goat of slasher flicks, I think we need this on here. Cool Hand Luke- Incredible movie. One of Paul's best. The Great Escape- Rick Dalton should have been cast as the lead.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - We can't have Lord of the Rings without Harry Potter, and what better film to represent it than the one that's widely accepted by critics and audiences alike to be the best? This has the perfect blend of darkness and playfulness, one of John Williams' two best scores IMO and it cemented Alfonso Cuaron's status in Hollywood. He was already on the map with Y Tu Mama Tambien, but without Azkaban, he probably wouldn't have had the clout to go on to make Children of Men, Gravity and Roma.
Se7en (I had it first, Deexan) - One of the best police procedurals ever made with one of the best, most iconic film endings of all time. It also really announced David Fincher's talent after the mishandling of Alien 3.
All That Jazz - The better representation of Bob Fosse than Cabaret, plus it's also a compelling meditation on the costs of show business.
Memento - Similar to Cuaron with Azkaban and Fincher with Se7en, Memento put Christopher Nolan on the map and its unique plot structure holds up and remains effective to this day.
