We'll compromise Alien Resurrection A breakdown of those first 4 films would be interesting since all of them were done by, in my opinion, great directors. Resurrection is a good looking film, balancing Jeunet's signature colors with the industrial horror feel the franchise is known for. It's the ludicrous script and derivative storytelling (it's essentially a shitty version of Aliens, just like Alien3 is a shitty version of Alien) that are the problems, not Jeunet. |

Alien Resurrection is at least weird Ripley being its "mother" was stupid, yet shockingly isn't even the dumbest plot line. Everything with Winona Ryder was horrendous. Also the basketball scene. Neverending will tell us that this was the greatest example of the '90s Chicago Bulls' influence on popular culture. |

I don't know if I hate Alien Resurrection more than AVP (I haven't seen the latter since I was thirteen) but man do I hate Alien Resurrection. Yeah, it's weird and visually distinct, but it's also relentlessly annoying movie that doesn't carry itself with the slightest bit of dignity. People like to rag on Alien 3, but at least that movie has a pretty consistent and chilling tone. Resurrection is like a bad farce.
