I'm certainly done with physical media, but most importantly, I am definitely done with 3 hour movies. Totally done? I can't quite pull the trigger on that yet. I'm sure I'll still buy the upcoming Marvel and Bond movies barring them being total disappointments. I own the first three Jurassic Park movies too, so unless the upcoming fourth is terrible I'm sure I'll spring for that too. Same goes for the upcoming season of Mad Men. I'll still buy some stuff, just not to the extent that I used to. Once you are done, I'll feel just a little more alone in this world...

It's just much easier for me to download a movie than something that physically occupies space in my home.

Yea you're right, the female wants to watch it. And I'm sure there will be another one coming out I will want to see (a 3 hour movie that is). After I watch it again I will report on my level of hatred for young Murph's acting abilities.

I realize some of us are more shameless than others, but let's keep it under our hats, shall we?
I have also fallen into the age of convenience, where I'd much rather just have digital copies of most media. That's how I generally watch and enjoy 90% of my entertainment, and Netflix has completely spoiled me. However I do still buy physical if it's a movie or TV show that I really enjoy. Ones that I want to show others who have not seen it, and ones that I can see myself watching many times over. If it's a movie or show that is not worth seeing more than once, I usually won't bother.
I also like extras (which are a must if I'm buying physical), as well as being able to display the movies I love the most. Almost everyone that visits our place ends up taking a gander at our movie collection, and it's always good to have great titles amongst them. I've never thought about having to move them, either. DVDs and Blu-Rays are so light, it's never been much of an issue.
Video games are another story, though. I have gone almost 100% digital when it comes to games now.

Admittedly it's a little perplexing how you're so boldly open to admitting such things (especially to such a drastic degree), but regardless as to how anyone feels on the matter, if everyone could please refrain from openly discussing piracy on here (as we already have asked once before). Unless of course it's within a reasonable context, such as educational. For example, starting a topic on the ethics behind piracy, or what affects it may or may not have, would be okay.
So again, we don't condone it, and we would please ask that it not be discussed on our public forum.

I just checked my Interstellar plant that I won and it still, 1 month later, hasn't sprouted at all. So I stuck my fingers in the can and there's no seed! What a jip. So I'll be contacting the prize provider and asking for another, and an extra one so I have something to send to JW. All of your goods are ready to dispatch, by the way. I'm just currently flat broke until my first payday at the end of March. Then I'll start shipping your ish. Last weekend I emailed the company who provided all the prizes in my Interstellar goodie bag to let them know that one of my plants hadn't sprouted - they literally got in touch with me within an hour, at 4am in the morning on saturday! I was still awake (natch) and this guy asked me for my address. I passed it on and today I collected a parcel from my neighbour with not one but TWO new plants-in-a-can inside and a lovely message from the company (www.rdp-creative.com) apologising for the faulty plant. This is the kind of behaviour that earns a company/brand somebody's respect/business for life. So now I have not one but two Interstellar plants going spare. One is for Justin but if anyone else who so far hasn't got involved with the Deexan giveaway fancies cultivating their own Oxygen-giving piece of life, let me know and I'll add you to my delivery list. VaderStark14, what say you?

So, I know most people are going crazy for the WalMart edition of the Blu Ray, but I opted for the Target steelbook instead.

Young Murph isn't too bad. I still hate the love angle, but I really like how the movie ends. I could theoretically see this movie again. The female enjoyed it quite a bit I think. Still think it was solid, couple terrible scenes and some plot holes, like the whole sending himself, just seems kind of contradictory and paradox-y.
But again... I still really liked how they ended it.
I really want a TARS/CASE to put on my desk at work though.
I'll keep my 7/10 rating. Poor Tom though. Guy is neglected his whole life but keeps sending his dad videos far into his years. And did Murph save his life? Did Coop want to meet his grandchildren at all or just say 'nah fuck it'? So many questions.

Deep breath...
On Monday night I saw this live at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Hans Zimmer and the London Philharmonic Orchestra performed the score live whilst the movie played. Zimmer was just on keyboard/synth but he gave massive props to the conductor and organist at the end, which consisted of at least 5 minutes of standing applause.
They nailed every last track to a tee.
Only once throughout the film did the audience applause and you can see that exact, beautiful fucking moment right here:
Prior to the movie Stephen Hawking was wheeled on to introduce Zimmer, Nolan, Kip Thorne (scientific advisor on Interstellar) and Brian Cox - a professor of physics on whom the character of Capa in Sunshine was partly based - a point he referred to during the panel discussion that ensued.
Nolan expressed his interest in Carl Sagan and Cosmos, and the fact that his generation aspired to be astronauts and that the modern world is too obsessed with micro-science, phones, gadgets rather than the external realm.
Kip Thorne was fascinating to listen to and even had several slides to explain the science behind it - he also explained how he was convinced that orbiting a black hole on a planet where 7 earth years equaled 1 hour was impossible - Nolan's response? "Sleep on it." And, behold, after sleeping on it he figured out an equation that would allow such an occurrence to exist. He was so complimentary to Chris and Jonah because their creativity forced him to think about certain equations from perspectives that he never had before - and Nolan in turn explained how if Kip gave him a realistic situation to base a scene around, Kip would also go away to research in depth and ensure that contemporary calculations still correlated with his workings. Kip probably got the greatest laughs - he and Chris' banter was heartfelt and genuine. Brian Cox mentioned how unique it is that someone could base a Hollywood movie around these questions that cover all the major physics elements - relativity, quantum mechanics and M-brane theory - and approach them all in one overarching story.
The delicacy of this is easily ignored by detractors.
After the panel Michael Caine came out and told the classic Batman story about Nolan arriving at his house and making him read Batman Begins. "I'm not playing the lead, then?", was his first comment when Nolan told him what it was about. Nolan drank tea with Mrs Caine while MC read it and Caine immediately agreed. He said that that was the biggest change in the history of his acting career. And that he'd never made 6 blockbusters in a row before that. He then invited Nolan and Zimmer on to the stage and it was a joy to see how much respect and adoration the three all felt for one another. Both Caine and Zimmer ran out of words to describe how much they loved working with CN. I know Neverending gives Zimmer stick for his "team" but you can tell that the music he makes for Nolan films is very personal - he wrote the melody for Interstellar before Nolan had even explained the plot and he wrote it about him and his son. Then Nolan told him what the plot was and Zimmer was like "but I've written this intricate, minimal piece about me and my son" and Nolan told him how that father/child relationship was the crux of the story.
Nolan also explained how this is as big as subject matter gets in film, so that's why they had to use an organ. The orgnanist playing live was unreal.
Nolan was very dry and when asked if he purposefully made the film to be inspirational to a new generation of scientists/astronauts he said you should never set out with that kind of goal because it will drive you crazy - but as they advanced with the film the realised that they had to make hope the defining factor because they saw how important the chance was for them to make this point and reach out to people - old and new.
It worked with me. I've ran out of the number of people I've told how good this film is. And I think that goes for everyone on here who loves it. We can't stop talking about it. That is rare indeed for a simple movie these days.
My favourite part was when Nolan wasn't being dry with his answers about the film's production, but when he had banter with Kip or Hans. He just came across as a classic English, laid-back guy who is most comfortable laughing and taking the piss out of his friends. It was a tiny glimpse into the man behind the world-creating mask.
Pictures to come.

The panel with Hawking being wheeled away God. Hans Moments from take off Caine introducing the movie Nolan and Caine Caine, Zimmer and Nolan pre-show Zimmer - "this was an enjoyable discussion...you can all go home now - I've got work to do!" *points to orchestra* His commitment to Nolan's ideas is undoubtable. It seems that everyone that works with him never wants to stop. Lots of crew in the crowd, too. 99% of audience sat through the credits til the end, where the orchestra continued. Followed by at least five minutes of standing ovation. Once in a lifetime experience. I love this film!

I'm always drunk! When I post here, anyway...
Yeah, apologies for the quality. New phone is a disappointment.
It genuinely was one of the best days of my life. I know the film can be nitpicked to the Nth degree, like all Nolan creations (and rightly so - his reputation warrants extra attention), but the passion in Nolan, Zimmer, Caine and Thorne's voices as they discussed the project showed how much they cared for it.
I know Nolan's movies can always be picked apart at a miniscule level but when you hear him, or anyone who worked on his films, talk about it, what you quickly glean is that what's important is the Big Picture. Ironically, the guy who is nitpicked more than any of his peers makes movies that aren't designed to me nitpicked, they're about so much more than that - the details cease to matter. What matters is the Whole.
So it goes...
I'm confident now saying it's my second favourite film of all time. It has changed my life.
