Also 206 minute runtime, just shy of The Irishman's 209 minutes.

Premieres in a few minutes at Cannes. I'm surprised SnoBorderZero isn't there since he's practically next door. He went to watch Caligula Redux.

Tarantino: I’m only making 10 movies. Scorsese: I’ll retire when I’m in the grave.

Tarantino: I’m only making 10 movies. Scorsese: I’ll retire when I’m in the grave. No director has ever had an output on par with what Scorsese's will end up being at this age. Most of the greats taper off in their 70s and very few have a string of good films to their name at that age let alone great ones. What Scorsese is on the cusp on achieving has never been done if he keeps this up. Not Hitchcock. Not Welles. Not Godard. Not Kurosawa. Not Fellini. Not Bergman. Making great movies in his 80s? Truly incredible.

Shit, the man could be making cinematic bangers in his 80s at this rate. Truly incredible. He’s made classic movies in every decade since the 1970’s. Spielberg is close, I guess, if people end up giving a shit about Lincoln and the Fablemans.

Spielberg is close, but he's not making works nearly as interesting as Scorsese is. Compare this to the Fabelmans and it's clear they're operating on different levels. Spielberg is making the movies he wants to make -- and I say that with no disrespect whatsoever, the man can do whatever the fuck he wants and has absolutely nothing to prove to anybody -- but Scorsese continues to evolve as a filmmaker even this late in the game and that's astounding. Killers of the Flower Moon is a movie that Scorsese would've made in the '70s with the same vigor that he had making Taxi Driver. It's not hyperbole to say we're witnessing cinematic greatness that's never been done before and it's fantastic.

I mean yea it's pretty obvious but still. Even Marty said he had to rewrite it. Cultural prejudice and the accompanying blindspots are a thing for a reason.
Some people will certainly be surprised. But maybe that's why these last few trailers have been so tell all. Prepare the uh... salt of the earths.

I read the book so *shrug*. I don't think the twist is all that wild in the end anyways. It's pretty clear who's good and who's not and who's just sort of stupid and caught up in the in-between.

Just saw there were two sold out showings at the big Chinese theater with Scorsese in person doing a Q&A. No idea when those ones went on sale but I'm pissed I missed out.
