In development for years, Eric Roth's adaptation of David Grann's non-fiction bestseller is set in 1920s Oklahoma and revolves around the Osage Nation, who were the richest people per capita in the world, after oil was discovered under their land and then they were murdered, one by one. As the death toll rose, the newly created FBI took up the case and unraveled a chilling conspiracy and one of the most monstrous crimes in American history. Scorsese and his other on-screen muse, Leonardo DiCaprio, officially confirmed they were making the movie last year, and the final elements are falling into place, including a budget and a shoot pencilled in for the middle of next year. As part of the Osage News's coverage of Scorsese's visit with Chief Standing Bear to talk the cultural necessities in the film this weekend, mention was made of De Niro playing the murderer, Bill Hale. If this isn't next, what is Leo's next project? The Del Toro one? And what would Scorsese do before this? I know they are both somewhat silly questions seeing that Leo and Scorsese are constantly linked to multiple projects, but I'm just curious, Leo especially. I can't see him taking another 3-4 year break like he did between Revenant and Once Upon a Time.
