Gotta go to the actual people, my card arrived this week. Will test it out next week... Repeatedly. I'll report back with my findings. Do you know if that site lets you reserve seating in advance?

Well... yes and no. That just comes down to the theater you're going to and whether or not they have reserved seating. If they do, then you're required to when you purchase your tickets (which MoviePass is doing for you). They wouldn't have anything special for theaters that don't normally have reserved seating. Regular customers wouldn't know where not to sit. Unless there's some theaters I'm not aware of that tell you where you have to sit as you enter the cinema. That would suck.

I meant more, is it possible to reserve your seats earlier in the day or days in advance to make sure you get the best seats? I heard you literally need to be standing in the lobby before it lets you order your tickets.

I heard you literally need to be standing in the lobby before it lets you order your tickets. Oh, yeah. Of course, that still comes down to the theater and its options as well. Yes, the standard use of the MoviePass is supposed to be only the day of, as you go in, which kinda sucks. But that's not taking into account some online ticketing services. Few theaters don't offer this, and you should be able to order tickets earlier in the day. They'll just give you a confirmation or bar code to scan once you go into the theater. So no snagging of month-advance tickets, sadly. *Edit: An interesting idea you could try is to buy a ticket for the day and then exchange it for a later date. Once redeemed, the ticket should be just like an ordinary ticket at that point with a monetary value, which should allow you to do exchanges if you so choose. Using this same method, you could also use the pass to gain entry to 3D and IMAX shows and simply pay the difference.

No on reserved seating. Depends on the theater (but with no online ordering it kinda hurts the options), you gotta be within a hundred yards of thw theater to check in, it activates your card, you go in and swipe.
I see a lotta movies but I rarely if ever used reserved seating, but movie pass will cover that you just gotta get it at the lobby attendant.
Used it for the first time last night, easy as hell. Debating going again tonight.

I only ever do... Live for the walk up.
You can get reserved but just have to ask the attendant there.
The movie pass card is burning a hole in my pocket though... Gonna just go see everything in the next couple months.
Might check out mother tomorrow night.

Gotta say if you haven't jumped on movie pass... Do so. Even if it ups prices in a month or folds shortly after. It is such a good deal. Combined with amc stubs points it's like they pay you to go to the movies.
Saw 3 movies so far this month and it's a pretty slow month. Might duck outta work early next week to catch a flick just because.

Wait, so can this be used with your stubs? Does that apply for a regal card as well?

Got the moviepass card this weekend. Used it the first time last night. I was a bit nervous to be honest, because it almost feels like you're pulling a fast one on the the theater. I approached the ticket line thinking they would yell at me or ask me to leave, but nope, it was went smoothly.
Highly recommend.

Reaks of desperation but anything that keeps my price at ten or under I'm into. Buy it all people.

No it isn't they want the lump sum. Their model has always been based around hoping people forget about the subscription, this yearly plan at least nets them another 7 bucks processing fee, and the money to play with early as opposed to monthly.
I'm sure it folds or raises the price shortly, but fuck it. I upgraded myself.

I already don't pay online fees by keeping a gift card. I already pay less than $9 per ticket, because I go on Tuesdays or weekend matinees.

Its only real benefit is if you get a single membership and you go with a group of people often (families or the like). The 20% off food can be used as often as you like, for as many people as you like. It doesn't seem to make much sense, since you'd figure they would want to get as many people to sign up as possible, but it's only really good for one membership across multiple people, to get the most out of the discount. I guess the hope is that it'll increase concession sales in general.
Some of the marketing I've seen does, indeed, seem to focus more on the concessions, making the ticket(s) just some added bonus. I suppose if you were just to cut prices across the board on food, most people would not notice as much and inevitably still maintain the expense being too high. If you give people a 20% discount, though, the price cut becomes more apparent when the higher prices are always still seen.
If they're smart, they'd drop it to something like $4.99 a month, instead keeping that discount always in mind for members.
*Worth noting, though, that for any regular movie-goers that end up spending $10-15 for a a single evening ticket, even once that month, there wouldn't be any reason not to sign up for something like this. For those customers, this type of membership shouldn't be too difficult to sell to. More so for the more expensive theaters on the coasts and certain cities.

For those customers, this type of membership shouldn't be too difficult to sell to. More so for the more expensive theaters on the coasts and certain cities. AMC pulled this stunt recently. Over the summer, they got rid of large drinks and popcorn. You only had two choices, regular (formally small) or large (formally medium), and changed the price to reflect that. Now they've brought back large, but are calling it extra large, and of course the price reflects that. So I have no doubt that 20% off isn't gonna mean shit, cause they're definitely gonna hike the price.

Okay, now I'm bloody angry. Cinemark has eliminated their removal of the online fee when you use a gift card.
