Where the hell did that come from? Played at Sundance. Dracula would normally ignore it (he hates Sundance) but I don't think he has a choice this year. Unless he cancels the Golden Stake Awards - or lets 1godzillafan host it.

Perhaps that's why Wonder Woman 84 is still scheduled for Christmas?

Don’t forget about the one movie everyone is talking about, Free Guy. That’s still on the schedule for December for some reason.

The wife and I decided to see a movie last night, what the heck, first time since February, longer for her.
I'm left shocked, not from the movie, we saw War with Grandpa, so that tells you our level of entertainment/getting out of the house desperation. Shocked more with almost no one there in the whole theater. Our showing was at 6:55 and counting myself and staff there were 8-9 total in the whole theater. Of course there were probably more I couldn't see. Very somber environment, one whole walking area piled up side by side to block off walking in the wrong direction by candy stands and game machines.
Our movie was a private showing, just us in the backrow in our reserved seats. Felt weird being magnetically focused to find our seats when in reality, we could have sat anywhere. A sign of Covid changing behavior and focus on th new dos and donts of social distancing in public.
Thinking about the logic of going out, my hometown does not have many cases, I think we are at 6 or something like that for a catchment area of about 100,000. I was hesitant with my wife about going still but now after the fact, I have zero concern we were exposed, except for maybe when we got some popcorn. She needed it more than me as I do go into work during the week.
Anyway, long story short, I can totally see the film industry jumping ship and swimming to streaming services and what not as a safe anchor. There will always be some little places for cinema to be screened. Seeing this reality with my eyes was difficult.

I just got home from a 6:55 screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail at a Cinemark. We were also the only people in the theater. If you're thinking that makes it safe from COVID, you'd be dead wrong. It was obvious as soon as we got to our seats that nobody had cleaned the theater. There was popcorn all over the seats, as though someone had spilt their tub as they left. If they're not bothering to clean when it's a complete mess, they're certainly not going to when it doesn't. The short before the trailers letting patrons know how important Cinemark takes keeping their theaters safe and clean for all their customers was particularly laughable.

Also the virus is probably airborne, so even if there's no one there when you see a movie there could still be virus left in the air from a previous screening in the day.

That's disgusting they didn't clean for your showing. Its true that Covid can hang in the air for extended periods, I guess my circumstances are different in that the theater was quite clean and we had a staffer come in twice while watching the movie and he looked around. Also we are lucky to have a very minimally impacted Covid town so we could feel more comfortable venturing out.
