When he dreamed that up he was presumably assuming (wrongly) that the United States would get its shit together and get the virus under control like the rest of the world did By July, when the movie was originally gonna be released, it was obvious that wasn't gonna be the case but he insisted it get released anyway. By then they'd already invested in a bunch of marketing for it and they weren't going to flush that pushing it out another year. I don't disagree that it in retrospect it was a bit of a miscalculation, but you know, sometimes when you gamble you lose.

We all knew it was coming, I suppose. Interesting that Eternals is being released after Shang Chi now, but it's not difficult to imagine that they have little or nothing to do with one another. Still waiting for the delay announcement on 007.

Still waiting for the delay announcement on 007. Tenet isn't doing terrible overseas. 007 might still open with a focus on international grosses.

October 2nd (next Friday) is still the day the Governor is supposed to make his announcements concerning any more re-openings here. I'm crossing my fingers movie theaters will be among the next places up, but I don't know/haven't heard any whispers about those yet.
I just want to see Tenet already. I'm glad so many of you on here have seen it already, but it's driving me nuts a little not knowing when I'll get the chance to or if I'll even get to before it hits Blu Ray or streaming.

The longer it takes, the less likely you'll see it. Theatres are already starting to close, some permanently. Right now, everyone is impatiently waiting for James Bond to commit, or heck, maybe move to Black Widows' date or take a slot in October. If James Bond moves to 2021, forget it, most, if not all, will reclose. There isn't funds to stay open till Wonder Woman on Christmas. Plus, exhibitors are not particularly happy with Warner Bros right now. They'd rather see Doomsday 's Free Guy kick ass at the box office than support Wonder Woman.

Doomsday, by the way, what's going on with Free Guy? Y'all sticking with that December 11 date? Move it to October. Or is Ryan Reynolds against that? I know Jordan Peele was very instrumentalist in moving Candyman to a later date.

Not sure what Ryan's role is in the release date but I know pushing it to December allowed them to make some changes. I think it's sticking there unless we experience a significant Covid downturn.
And while I would love to see 007 in a few weeks it's being released around the exact same time that Doomsday progeny #2 is dropping. It's likely that it will be the first Bond movie since Goldeneye that I'll have to skip in theaters.

Much of the conclusion here is based on the assumption that people will fall out of the habit of going to the movies. It's equally possible audiences being deprived of theaters will miss them all the more.

Fanible Dracula Wyldstaar 1godzillafanAMC taking drastic measures. Low volume theatres will only be open Friday thru Sunday; mid-range theatres Friday thru Tuesday. Let’s see if the other chains (and indie theatres) end up in the same boat.

Yea do not buy more stock. That seems silly, the dividend is in jeopardy.
I'm worried about them, but that's why I used all my rewards.
