I love how the text included all her mistakes. Just based on her voice and speech patterns, I can picture what she looks like.

While we will ask people to leave if they continually are caught taking out their phone or talking, if this happened with a voicemail (or even an email), the company I work for would probably give her free tickets as a result. They are very old fashioned. "The customer is always right" has proven to be a poor business practice, but they are still pretty hardcore onboard with it, as are most of the major chains I believe.

Surprised that ad is popping up again. It's about a year old I think and all over the internet. Alamo are known for these don't talk bumpers. Check out their Youtube page for a load of them with big actors. My favorite is probably the Julie Delpy/Ethan Hawke "Before" one:

Watching Black Mass tomorrow. Anyone seen that yet? I'm leaning towards skipping it. Been disappointed by too many mediocre wannabe crime movies.

I grew up in Orange County which is nothing but Regal. Now I live in LA which is nothing but AMC and Arclight...but I still get Regal gift certificates from my relatives because that's all they can buy. My life sucks.

Why not just give you a general gift card that you can use anywhere? American Express sells them. You can get them at the supermarket.

Fanible Jibbs Doomsday Dracula SnoBorderZero PG Cooper thebtskink IanTheCool PhantomKnight JustinI think I'm done with mainstream cinema. I watched Get Out and King Kong at a mom & pop theater and it's a superior experience. In the past I've been to locally owned theaters at shady or ghetto neighborhoods and they can be less-than-stellar. But if you go to a well-maintained one in a good area, anything else is a downgrade. No crowds. Better prices. There isn't 20 minutes of commercials and trailers before the movie. I don't care about reserved seating, reclining chairs and an expanded menu item. I just wanna watch a fucking movie without any hassles. And that's becoming increasingly difficult with the way Hollywood is releasing movies. Ask PG Cooper who also had to deal with the madness of Lego Batman/Fifty Shades/John Wick in the middle of February. Imagine what a nightmare the summer is gonna be like. This is the time to support local businesses. Fuck mainstream America. Fuck corporate America. Support what's in your own backyard. As long as I can avoid it, I'm done driving 20 minutes to the big chain cinema with the terrible parking, thousands of people in the way, overpriced tickets and food. There's a better option - at least for now.

There's a better option - at least for now. Where I am it's pretty much impossible to go to a first run movie without going to a place that's owned by one chain or another with the exception of this one place on the other side of the city that vaguely resembles the porno theater from Taxi Driver. I do tend to avoid the AMC/Regal places when I can but Landmark has a total monopoly over the art houses and the places owned by Midwest chains tend to have noticeably inferior projection/seats. There are chain places that are good though and I don't find that the crowds behave all that differently at chain places than they do at downscale locations, ultimately it probably has more to do with how the local manager runs things.

There are chains that are good I'm in the big city. Trust me. Chains are getting irritating. People are falling for all the gimmicks. There's dine-in's. There's bars. They're doing anything they can to get butts in the seats. You can't even go to a matinee anymore without huge lines and sold-out screenings. They're ruining it for people who just wanna watch a movie. Theaters aren't even theaters anymore. They're restaurants that just happen to show movies. If you want that old school moviegoing experience you gotta go to the mom & pop theaters. Now, more than ever, it's important to support those businesses. We can't let local, non-chain theaters, die.

Well to avoid the lines and sold out screens you just need to buy your tickets online ahead of time, that's the best way to get the best reserved seats anyway. I'm not sure where these crowds are you speak of anyway, with movies opening on 4000+ screens and overall ticket sales being at an all time low I feel like crowds are the least of the theaters' problems, lines around the block are a thing of the past. I agree that the idea of dine-in theaters are problematic, I've never been to one and I don't plan to, but that isn't really a trend that seems to have hit the AMCs of the world yet and in theater bars don't really change anything aside from adding an extra concession stand that you're free to ignore if you want. The theater I go to has the best of both worlds as it has VIP sections for the people who want all that stuff and cheap regular stuff for people who just want to see the movie.

with movies opening on 4000+ screens and overall ticket sales being at an all time low I feel like crowds are the least of the theaters' problems It may be different in the midwest, so let me explain to you what's happening to the rest of us. Reclining seats fucked everything up. Every recliner takes up the space of two regular seats. So what used to be a 500 seat auditorium is now a 250 seat auditorium. When there's a huge movie opening, you immediately feel the difference. Screenings sell out in a heartbeat. Beauty and the Beast, for example, has been sold out since the beginning of the year. Then there's the menu. It has gotten out of control. Forget popcorn and candy. Forget soda. It's burgers and pizza and chicken tenders and alcohol, and since people are assholes, they leave a huge mess behind. It takes the 16-year-old kids a million years to clean up that mess. So even if you bought your tickets online, even if you ordered your food online (which is an option now), you'll still have to stand around and wait for the theater to be cleaned. And even then, there's no guarantee it'll actually be fully cleaned. You run the risk of sitting on a chair full of grease cause the asshole before you couldn't be bothered to use napkins. The lines to the restroom are ridiculous, mostly because they serve alcohol now, and everyone rushes to the restroom after the movie. You feel like you're at a ballpark or stadium. The whole moviegoing experience has been ruined. Seriously. It's a madhouse now. You poor naive bastard. You should have gone to the theater when Bad Mom's came out or when Fifty Shades came out. You're there to watch Lego Batman and suddenly hear a drunk housewive shouting obscenities and getting into a fight with the staff and management and eventually getting kicked out by security. That's what chain theaters have become, sir. Not even in the ghetto $5-per-ticket theaters do you see such spectacle. Let's see how long that lasts.
