Have yet to see Changeman. Did you see Dynaman? It’s the first Sentai to air in the States. The USA network aired it in the 80’s — but dubbed it to be a comedy. The only ones I've watched more than a handful of are Zyuranger and Dairanger. I was going to watch a bunch years ago, but decided watching them side-by-side with Power Rangers would be fun. I'm just now getting around to that.

Ash vs. Evil Dead
Season 2 - Part 1
Home - Ruby struggles with controlling the Dark Ones, leading her to break her truce with Ash and lure him back to his Michigan home town, where he is known as the town psychotic for murdering his friends thirty years ago.
The Morgue - Ash and Kelly leave Pablo and Ruby at Ash's dad's house as they venture to the morgue to find the body where Ruby stashed the Necronomicon. Complications arise when a corpse's intestines come to life and try to kill Ash.
Last Call - After his Oldsmobile Delta is stolen by a group of teenagers with the Necronomicon in it, Ash tries to lure them back into town by throwing a bitchin' party with his buddy Chet. But the teenagers accidentally read from the book, causing the Delta to become possessed.
DUI - After killing Ash's dad, the Delta kidnaps Pablo and takes him for a "joyride," and Ash tricks his friend Chet into thinking they're going to a strip club so he can borrow his car and follow them. Meanwhile, Kelly takes off with Ruby to confront her children.
Confinement - Ash is arrested for the murder of Amber and is taken to the police station. Ruby, Pablo, and Kelly arrive soon after to find that the demon Baal has risen and is hiding among the crowd in stolen skin. Soon everyone becomes suspicious of each other on who might be Baal.
Ash, Pablo, and Kelly are back for another round, and it's good to see the Ghost Beaters once again. Our time with them was way too short.
If there is one thing I can think of when I watch Ash vs. Evil Dead season two, it's that it's quite a bit broader than the first season. The first season was humorous, to be sure, but season two feels it needs to step up the comedy to keep the audience hooked. It's not a miscalculation by any means, because the show is still funny, but it often comes off as "muchness for the sake of muchness." Ash wrestling with a dead body's intestines that are strangling him is pretty good black comedy on its own. But the show then feels it needs to one-up itself by shoving Ash's head up the dead body's anus and have Bruce Campbell scream "OH GOD! I'M IN THE BUTT!" in case the viewer can't figure it out. It's a solid shock laugh, but does it boarder on being tediously extreme? That is, if there is such a thing.
But it does give me ample opportunity to say with sincerity "Rectum? Damn near killed him!"
The new story arc brings us some insight as to Ash's past before the cabin. It also brings up the question of just what happened to him immediately afterward. Ash went up with a group of friends, all of them were mutilated, and he came back alone. That aint a good look! Ash apparently was branded the town psychopath, "Ashy Slashy." Why criminal charges weren't brought up is anybody's guess, but it's interesting to explore this history of the character we haven't seen before. We even explore Ash's relationship with his father, who sees him as the son who killed his daughter thirty years prior.
The Six-Million-Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors gets a recurring role as Ash's father. They even get a Six-Million-Dollar Man reference in when Ash's dad admires Ash's new robot hand, to which Ash responds that "It's better, faster, stronger..." Majors is very good here, with a stern disapproval of his seemingly psychotic son, only to look on in admiration for when Ash is doing his job, finally realizing that his "screw-up" is doing some important work. He's only in a handful of episodes, but they're worthwhile ones.
Ted Raimi is here too, playing Ash's buddy Chet. Raimi gets a lot of the most hilarious scenes all to himself. I personally love the scene where Ash tricks Chet into letting him borrow his car by making him think they're going to a strip club. Raimi's heartbroken and betrayed reaction to the line "We're not going to a titty bar" is arguably the funniest moment of the series.

Ash vs. Evil DeadSeason 2 - Part 2 Trapped Inside - Ash, Ruby, Kelly, Linda, and Lacey return to Ash's house with Pablo, who's body is turning into a reproduction of the Necronomicon. Ruby hurries to decipher the text while Kelly and Linda hold off the angry mob that wants to lynch Ash. But the task gets complicated when Ash's sister Cheryl is resurrected and is still possessed. Delusion - Ash wakes up in a mental asylum where his doctor looks like Baal and tries to convince him that the last thirty years have been a delusion and he murdered his friends at the cabin on that fateful night with no demonic presence. Ashy Slashy - Ruby, Pablo, and Kelly track Ash down to an abandoned asylum where Baal has broken him and convinced him that Pablo must die, and take the secrets of the Necronomicon with him. Home Again - Distraught over the death of Pablo, Ash devises a plan to go back in time to the 1980's with Ruby and Kelly to prevent his past self from finding the Necronomicon. Second Coming - Ash kills Henrietta while past Ruby kills future Ruby, but Ash and Kelly successfully alter the past. However, instead of resurrecting Pablo they accidentally resurrect Baal. In a last ditch effort to stop the evil from spreading, Ash challenges Baal to a fist fight to decide the fate of the world. But both of them fight dirty. In watching Ash vs. Evil Dead lead to it's second season conclusion for the first time several years ago, something seemed off by the experience. The finale seemed a bit undercooked, like it was something that was trying to pass off as something being built toward, but was really slapped together suddenly in a search of somewhere to go. This was certainly apparent in the final five minutes, where Ash successfully changes the past so he never went to the cabin, but returns to the modern day and it's exactly the same. The episode states directly that the events of the episode have altered the course of history (Ash's hand reappearing, ect), but the series itself seems to neither note this nor care. That's not even noting the Linda character, who seems pretty chipper and horny for someone who just saw her husband and daughter get murdered/possessed. The disconnect between this ending and everything else this season is startling. After experiencing the finale, I had looked into it online and it turned out the series showrunner was fired before these final few episodes were filmed, and the final episode was hastily rewritten. Baal wasn't meant to come back at all for any sort of final battle. Ash apparently was supposed to escape the cabin with the Necronomicon and bail into town, where he unknowingly meets Kelly's mother at a bar and the two have sex, which makes Kelly Ash's daughter. But Kelly leaves with 1982 Ruby, which sets up a third season where Ash and Pablo try to save Kelly from Ruby. Apparently Kelly being Ash's daughter was the straw that broke the camel's back and everything went to hell. What's funny is that the third season does deal with Ash having a daughter, but it isn't Kelly. I'm not going to say it that sounds like a better finale. If nothing else, the finale has a lot of action and gore, which is what you would expect from Evil Dead. The original finale sounds very light, though it's an interesting idea. I don't know how I feel about Kelly being Ash's daughter seeing how Ash was trying to get into her pants in the very first episode of the series (I call this the Luke/Leia cockblock), but it would have been interesting to explore. The only thing I can say for certain is that from a writing standpoint, the finale that resulted is all flash but no payoff. That's not saying Ash vs. Evil Dead season two doesn't do anything right in its second half. They have a lot of fun stuff, including some returning castmembers from the original Evil Dead trilogy. Ellen Sandweiss returns to play Ash's sister Cheryl for the first time since playing her in the original film, and she is hamming it up like no one else. In addition to playing Chet earlier in the season, Ted Raimi returns for the final two episodes to play his famous role ast the Deadite Henrietta from Evil Dead II, and it hits me right in the nostalgia area. There is also a fun two-parter where Ash is trapped in a mental asylum and Baal is trying to convince Ash that the last thirty years have been a delusion. It's an overused plot in shows like this, but what makes it fun is Ash's interplay with a demon puppet named Ashy Slashy. This set of episodes has a lot of great stuff, like Kelly getting into a fist fight with Ashy Slashy and Ash unveiling his master plan at the end of it. And have I mentioned how much I love Kelly? If I'm watching this show for any reason that isn't Bruce Campbell, it's to get more Kelly. And I love her relationship with her powerful vagina AKA Pablo.

Ash vs. Evil Dead
Season 3 - Part 1
Family - Now the town hero for ridding the world of the Deadites, Ash takes over his dad's hardware/adult toy store. Candice, a woman claiming to be his wife, shows up asking for help when her daughter Brandy is attacked by Deadites at school. She also claims that Brandy is Ash's daughter.
Booth Three - Curious about something a Deadite said about his "seed," Ash visits a sperm bank he has been donating to in hopes of finding a lead of some sort. Meanwhile, desperate for someone to confide in who isn't her father, Brandy confides in her school counselor, who turns out to be Ruby...who, unbeknownst to Brandy, has just given birth to a demon spawn born of Ash's semen.
Apparently Dead - After Ash mutilates her mother's corpse at the funeral, Brandy decides to move in with Ruby. But while she's packing, Ruby resurrects Ash's father, who has some "bonding time" with Brandy and Ash. Meanwhile, Pablo, Kelly, and Dalton search for the Kandarian Dagger at the site where the cabin stood.
Unfinished Business - Ash is visited by the ghost of his father, who reveals that there may be pages from the Necronomicon in the cellar of the hardware store. While Ash goes searching for the pages, Kelly and Brandy are attacked by a possessed Pablo.
Baby Proof - While Ash contends with the demon spawn of Ruby and himself, Pablo sees visions of his Brujo uncle, who informs him that he must step up and embrace his destiny as a Brujo.
Ash vs. Evil Dead came back for a third and final season of mayhem, though the writing should have been on the wall. Not only did behind the scenes turmoil weaken the end of the previous season, the show had been kicked from it's prime horror series release date in October to avoid competition with Stranger Things, moving the series all the way to February, where it really didn't stand a chance.
That being said, season three can be argued to be the best season of the show. The first season definitely captures lightning in a bottle, while the second season amps up and doubles down for better or worse. The third season feels a lot more like season one, which is more my cup of tea. It's less broadly silly and more gleefully violent with wacky undertones. It's clear from episode one of this season that they're going less Looney Tunes and more of a rambunctious, gory good time as we're treated to a battle between Ash and a high school mascot Deadite that is well done and pretty exciting and funny. And as characters drop to the floor or get possessed, there is a definite feeling of anything goes.
While the production has spoken and Kelly is not Ash's daughter, they decide to introduce Ash's daughter anyway as a new character named Brandy, who Ash is trying to protect during that opening episode. Brandy can be grating, as she resents being the daughter of "Ashy Slashy" and she comes to terms with just how much her life has been flipped upside down, but on the plus side she is very well cast. The role requires a wide range switching emotions, as well a series of breakdowns, and Arielle Carver-O'Neill plays them really well. She spends a good amount of time giving her father attitude, which is hard for a viewer to accept because Ash is our beloved hero, though it's understandable from a character standpoint because Ash sucks at winning people over. She is also being manipulated by Ruby, which is a losing battle for Ash because Ruby is always playing a mindgame of Chess while all Ash knows how to play is Checkers. So while Brandy can be frustrating, she is at least understandable.
Other aspects to note: Lee Majors reprises his role as Ash's father, which was one of his final roles before he passed away. There is another new character named Dalton, who is mostly used as an introduction to the "Knights of Sumeria," and it's also alluded that he's Kelly's boy toy. Dalton is mostly a non-character that adds nothing. Even when you'd expect he would be there to spark a hint of jealousy from Pablo, who has long been established to be totally into Kelly, Pablo hardly seems to notice he's there. Kelly and Pablo's romantic tension does pay off when Pablo revives after Kelly believes him to be dead, which totally climaxes in a make-out moment that is mostly brushed off. Yet shippers still squee with joy.
Ash gets several silly action scenes, for those who want more things like the morgue scene. One is a showdown between himself and a demonic porno magazine in the middle of a sperm bank, and another has him fighting a demon toddler in Ruby's house. It just wouldn't be Ash vs. Evil Dead if it didn't balance the absurd with the horrific, and that's the third season in a nutshell.

Wyldstaar Lynda Carter Wonder Woman on HBO Max It's there all right, but they're not exactly going out of their way to make it readily known. If you search Wonder Woman, the first four hits are all actually Wonder Woman related. Wonder Woman '75 is the eleventh hit, which you have to scroll down to find. To be fair, this may simply be a matter of their search engine being a POS. There's lots of other WW related stuff further down, too. I need to sit down some time and figure out what all is on HBO Max. I just discovered the Hubs section, and am in danger of going down the rabbit hole. Adult Swim is on here?

PhantomKnight SnoBorderZero thebtskink PG CooperDoomsday recently hosted a discussion on books about the film & TV industry, which you read here: comingsoon.boards.net/thread/2098/film-booksIt was in 7th (or maybe 8th) grade when my interest in the entertainment industry was so high that I’d go to the library and check out books on people in the business. This was before the Internet was mainstream, back when people had to educate themselves with physical books (or sometimes magazines) and I was the weirdo reading a Steven Spielberg biography. Anyway, long story short, I’ve been a fan of this woman for over 20 years and feel that she’s super underrated. For those of us who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s, she was one of the great architects of our childhood. If 1godzillafan and I ever get hired by Shout Factory, we’re creating the definitive documentary on Fox Kids.
