Didn't really care about this show to this point, but that was a good trailer and I need to use my Disney+ subscription for something other than Mandalorian and Simpsons.

PhantomKnight WyldstaarI know Covid fucked up their shooting schedule, but they should have released Falcon/Winter Soldier first. WandaVision is a hot mess. They’re committing way too hard to the bit. One episode? Okay, fine. But are they seriously gonna drag out this shit for the whole season (or series)? Episode 2 is a bit more promising, but I suspect we’re gonna have to sit through Wanda: The Sitcom.

They're not hiding the bit. I think the series changes pretty soon.
I liked ep 2 more than 1. Bettany is tremendous in it.

Not bad episodes. I think it's pretty clear it won't be a dumb sitcom for long.

Christ, that dinner scene in episode 1. The beginning of the episode as a 50’s sitcom is great. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are charming in their roles. But once they get to the dinner scene, that’s when they should have transitioned into a regular show. I don’t mind if the season (or series) continues to use old sitcoms as a setting, but they need to firmly establish the real threat within the show. I’m not saying they need to give us answers. There being a mystery is great. What I’m saying is, they need to acknowledge this is Wanda’s fantasy world and have the real world and fantasy world come into conflict. Instead, they made a 50’s/60’s sitcom and stuck to the bit, only sprinkling moments that shatter the illusion, and that gets kinda tiresome. The 2nd episode is a little better cause drunk Vision is kinda funny, but that 1st episode with the whole “my boss coming to dinner” schtick got cringey as hell. And that’s my main concern moving forward. The success of this show will rely entirely on them executing all these old tropes and they’re not off to a great start. |
