Face like a pig. I love this scene. They gave this fake wedding more heart than most “real relationships” in the series. Imagine a scene like this with one of the Bond girls that mattered? They probably thought audiences would find it sappy so they did it here instead. People talk about Connery “sleep walking” in the later films but I think he’s great here. Very subtle performance. His nervousness/awkwardness in the wedding scene is great. PG Cooper where my video essay??? |

Finishing up Man with the Golden Gun before bed. Fucking hell, I forgot how the lady agents could be total klutzes that almost ruined Bond's good run in these movies. Goodnight saves herself from the rapey guard, but in doing so she causes the whole island to explode. Then the movie finds a way to make her bikini-clad butt make things even worse. Bond's reaction is "STUPID WOMEN!" then he fucks her in a boat.

Sure, but I still think Dr. No is a better movie. I doubt most people said that in 1965. Your argument that Thunderball was “weakest upon release” is pretty weak. The movie was clearly groundbreaking in its day. Dude, it was a throwaway comment about how of the first four Bonds, I think Thunderball is the weakest. I wasn't trying to imply audiences in 1965 thought that was the case. Given the film's scale and massive success that clearly isn't true. |
