Lady Gaga is performing at the Super Bowl. I'm sure this will be received entirely with enthusiasm by the NFL's fanbase and that the performance will occur without any controversy. Katy Perry seems like a safe choice by comparison.

Moving sucks, but I got majority of my life packed in a 20 foot uhaul. Then drove 5 hours to officially move in with somebody is exhausting, but worth it.

You would think that when the DMV would put you on hold they would have upgraded to at least some 90s style music. Instead it's a bad 80s synth keyboard.

This is going to be the first Halloween that I actually hand out candy. I'm sort of panicking because I have no idea how to interact with children. This holiday was a lot easier when the neighbor's kids feared me and didn't bother coming to my door.

You have free candy - you don't have to interact with them.

It went better than expected. By the time the kids were coming around I wasn't alone at the house so I was able to hide. I only had to answer the door once. Apparently I missed the memo and wearing a costume isn't a requirement to get candy anymore.

Whenever daylights savings ends, people say, "we can sleep an extra hour." But really, you're just gonna stay awake an extra hour. It's Sunday. You were gonna sleep more anyway. Even if you work on Sunday you get to sleep more cause traffic is out of the equation. So, I think, this special holiday should be moved to a weekday. That's when it'll really matter. That's when you'll actually get an extra hour of sleep.

Or better yet, we stop doing this stupid thing altogether. Just let me keep my clock set where it is.

I can't even count how many damned applications I've submitted at this point. I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to work again.

I wouldn't have given the buggers any if they didn't. My son had a bad habit of wanting to take his costume off or not wear one at all, simple fix no costume no candy. I let him take the mask off as we are walking around (its got to get hot in that thing) but when it's time to go to a door he puts it back on or he gets no candy. That and I get him to say trick or treat and thank you, for a while he was just running up to the house holding his bag out and running off, no thank you or anything.

I know how you feel. Keep at it though. After weeks of no calls, you just start to wonder, "is it me?" I went through those feelings over and over again. Sometimes it's really just a matter of putting things in perspective--like if this one interview goes well then great, but if it doesn't, then I'll just move on. For me it was always important to remember that I've had jobs in the past that went well, that I had for awhile, and that's evidence enough that I'll get another one.

I know how you feel. Keep at it though. After weeks of no calls, you just start to wonder, "is it me?" Have you tried going to temp agencies? They can often do all the needed legwork for you and even if the job isn't permanent you'll be able to get in the door at a new industry, get some experience there, and make some contacts.

Yeah. I've been to nearly every temp agency in the city and only a few of them have even called me back, and only one has called for a job. That one only lasted three weeks. I've been out of work since August.

After weeks of no calls, you just start to wonder, "is it me?" You might need to tailor your resume for each job. Example: if you're applying to flip burgers and show up with a resume bragging about your management experience they might be like, "nah, we're good." Likewise, if you're applying for a management position they don't need a 10-page resume going back to your high school days. Also, have your resume be relevant. If you're applying for an office job, focus on your past office experiences. If you're applying for a manual labor job, bring up your military past and any physical job you've had. Basically, make the HR's job a lot easier. They have to go through hundreds of applications. The more fat you trim the better.

I've had potential employers flat out tell me that they were going to give me a call to set up an interview...and never call. I applied to a store for Management. I had an interview, and it went really well. The interviewer was impressed with my experience, and said that she would pass my app and resume to her DM, who would give me a call to set up the next interview within then next couple of days. I never heard from anyone again. Either she lied and never sent my info up, or the DM looked at my info and went..."nah."
