So after being out of the service now for four months I'm realizing more and more that I will never truly transition back into the civilian world.

I can't ever see you doing the sort of thing, but I'm getting all sorts of visions from working retail when trophy wives from Leavenworth would come in with a "don't you know who I am?" sort of attitude.

Yeah I don't have the don't you know who I am attitude. It's my work mentality, the way I talk, situational awareness and just everything.

So I tried an escape room today. You get a group of friends and they lock you in a room and you have 1 hour to figure out how to get out. There are clues hidden all around the room with all sorts of puzzles to figure out. It was an absolute blast. I highly recommend it if you have one in your city. We did one of those for friend's birthday. We failed. But we had fun getting there.

I have the most wonderful group of friends. We got together for our bi-weekly knitting/crochet meetup and three of the gals volunteered to untangle my mess of yarn from when the dog got into it. Then, at dinner afterwards a few of them offered to help me move next month.
Absolutely lovely ladies that I'm surrounding myself with now. It's such a nice contrast to my old Lawrence friends who only seem to take from me.

I did a Halloween escape the room last year. I guess I expected more from it, it was just in a warehouse and they didn't really make it atmospheric or anything. It's a good idea I suppose but I wasn't too blown away. We did escape though.

Still waiting for our newborn to arrive.. thought he or she would be here like 2 weeks ago based on how early our first was born, in comparison to the expected due date. Almost getting comical for us now, at least it feels that way.

It's not every day you're sitting at work and find out you ticked off Robert Redford.
As you might know, I'm a repair tech for a theater company. I mostly repair stage lights, consoles and dimmer modules, which are like the brains that hold the shows and sequences for sets of lights. On Thursday, I'm reading the problem description on one and notice it's a dimming module from a Sundance theater and that it locked up during some presentation...with Robert Redford in attendance. Shit happens, but then I notice that the item had already been in twice and that I was the last person to look at it...and I sent it along with a clean bill of health.
But in my defense, a couple things. One, it was from November when I was a pretty new employee, in fact, that was the first month I started working on this particular product and was not too familiar with the idea of "preventative maintenance" or asking for more info from the customer in the cases of not being able to find any problems with an item. And more importantly, the tech before me ALSO sent it along on its way without much repair work on, and I could see why. In both cases, the problem description was vague like "its showing dimmer errors," which on this particular product doesn't help much. What they said THIS time after the Redford incident was that "it had been freezing up for years." Had I known that, I would have replaced some damn things.
It actually said in the problem description: "Redford was concerned and wants us to address this issue."

Ian neglected to mention that he got trapped in the room and is still there right now because he's a simpleton.

I did my final walkthrough at the house today. Closing is still scheduled for November 5th. Every instance of nonsense from my neighbors (be it next door neighbors kicking volleyballs against the side of my house or the mentally handicapped people across the street throwing a very noisy fit) makes me that much more excited to get out of the place I'm in now. Here's a link to the photo album if anyone's interested in seeing the finished house. It's come a long way from being a hole in the ground. s36.photobucket.com/user/seakazoo/library/House

Congrats!
I found a small house for rent for the time being. It's tiny and was never updated since the 50s on the inside, but it'll do till I get everything done with even looking at buying a house.
