I've been texting this girl I know, she randomly started to text me in january and it got a bit sexy anyway saw her for the first time yesterday and had a bit of a date. It was pretty awesome.

Good luck Doomsday. I have zero worries that you won't excel at whatever you end up taking on. Do you have some kind of freelance skills you can utilise in the meantime? That nervous excitement is the F.E.A.R. It's a good feeling. It spurs you on.

Girlfriend and I are looking for a new apartment. We decided that if we keep living in our current apartment, we'll never be able to save enough money to buy a house... so we're looking to downsize and go less expensive. I called about a dozen places today and visited two this afternoon, and was instantly reminded that I hate looking for apartments. This is awful. Somebody just kill me. How's the job going, still considering getting the hell out of Dodge?

Anybody here ever get any effects off of pond5? An acquaintance recommended it for sound effects and the quality seems pretty good for reasonable cost. General reviews seem positive. I just want to get a feel for it before I commit.
I'd take any additional recommendation other sound effects sites as well and I am often looking for them. I try to building them when I can but this time I need a rolling siege tower and it's proving more complex than I have the resources for.

I'm friends with a lot of you on Facebook, Twitter, and Letterboxd, and we can still communicate there if you're interested. I'm not interested in being bossed around anymore, especially by someone I've had run-in's with throughout my entire tenure at CS! and here.
I'm out. Good luck all.

I have a question about the HBO show Carnivale. I know it got cancelled but does it leave it hanging at end of season 2? Or did they finish the last part without any cliffhangers? I am looking for stuff to watch on hbo and i remember someone on these forums saying this show is good but just curious about the last part of season 2 since got cancelled. I never watched Rome only because i heard that they left unanswered questions at the end of that show so didnt bother watching that because of left it hanging like that when got canceled. So just curious about carnivale if it will be like that at end, if it is then ill probably skip it and find something else to watch on HBO. Any recommendations? Can be movie or shows.

I guess I'll fill everyone in who is out of the loop (which realistically is everyone outside of the staff). If John/Tornado wishes to take this personally and leave, over something I would think is of a perfectly reasonable request that's acting in all of our best interests, then that is his own choice. I have chosen to be the messenger in situations such as this, and apparently it's bitten me on my ass more than once as John thinks I'm out to get him. I guess I should have let one of the other admins handle it.
John started a topic a couple weeks ago explaining that he has been pirating media, almost 750gb worth in a single month. As a result he received a warning from his service provider to stop, and then another a month later. He asked for advice on how to essentially pirate media more efficiently so as to avoid this confrontation with his service provider.
Two things came of this behind the scenes. I asked the ProBoards staff (who provide this forum for us) as to their thoughts and possible outcomes if we were to allow it. Then I asked the rest of the admin staff if we should allow it. The ProBoards staff got back to me and told me that they didn't think it was good idea to discuss illegal dealings on a public forum, and that a warning could cause the board to be suspended or taken down. After JBond gave me the thumbs up to do so, I removed the thread and sent those in the discussion the following message:
Fast forward to yesterday. A discussion was taking place about physical vs digital media. Eventually John came out and proclaimed that he thinks downloading is more convenient than them taking up shelf space and having to spend 15-20 dollars per. That in fact, the past couple months alone he has probably downloaded more than $3,000 dollars worth of movies and tv shows.
I removed the post and once again asked that everyone please refrain from talking about piracy.
After that I sent him the following PM. I meant it as a form of sincerity, but he apparently took it as condescending:
After he read this, he deleted me from his Facebook friends, and said he no longer would be visiting our forum.
John, if you're reading this, you need to see it from our point of view. This was not personal. I would like you to stay if you change your mind. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we would prefer not to have to migrate to someplace new again. This was just an attempt at trying to take the safest course of action, not to boss you around.
If anyone feels this was out of line, please feel free to say so.

Didn't the original boards have a similar policy? It seems like much ado about nothing. I suppose it's really none of my business, but for what it's worth seems like you were pretty on the level to me, Fanible.

Yes it did. John actually brought that up in the original topic, acknowledging the old rule and apologizing in advance if still wasn't allowed, but figured the rules of the old board did not follow us here. We hadn't really thought about it before, which of course is why discussions took place as to whether or not we should allow it.

Just a few thoughts:
1. I don't know why people ignore the private forums. They're there for a reason. Although, I suspect some people don't realize we have private forums. Maybe you should re-lable those forums to make it more clear.
2. I'm not sure why ProBoards would care about us. There's like 5 people who post here on a daily basis. I'm pretty sure the administrators didn't know we existed till you started paying them to remove the ad's.
3. Do you guys REALLY have "secret" staff meetings? JBond is AWOL. Frizzo stopped caring ages ago. Doomsday is a mod in name only. And bbf2 shows up like once every 6 months. I'm pretty sure you're making 99.9% of the decisions. And if you guys are REALLY having "secret" staff meetings, that's very silly considering that only 5 people post here on a daily basis.
I agree with Franklin that John/Tornado is being his usual over-dramatic self and he'll probably be back when Daredevil and The Avengers come along, but I also see John's point-of-view. This forum should be rule free. We're the smallest fish in a giant pond. Why would anyone care what we're doing?
I think there should be a compromise. The public forums should follow the same rules of the original forum, just to avoid any trouble, but the private forums should be rule free.

I'm sure no one here has a problem with anyone here about what they do behind closed doors, but openly discussing piracy here, well I can understand it being a big no-no and, at best, very incriminating. I'm sure everyone has entertained the thought to some degree, but at the end of the day, and the beginning, it's very, very illegal. I thought you conveyed your reasoning sincerely and professionally, and you probably even saved him from a lawsuit. It almost reminds me of the final words Glenn said to Nicholas on The Walking Dead last night. No spoilers, you'll know what I mean if you saw it.
It's safe to say we're all friends here. Friends have misunderstandings, but they always come around.

I think threads specifically about torrenting is a bad a idea and that should be a no-brainer. Discussion about torrents and admitting to downloading is borderline and OK in moderation, but if John actually mentioned a dollar amount on what he was saving, then yeah, that should be deleted.
Also, sorry I was "AWOL." I went to Indiana to see one of my cousins get married and I forgot to mention it. Back now.
