Drew Magary is one of my favorite writers on the internet. Guy has a true talent for grabbing your attention while being relatable. I remember you recommending The Post-Mortal back at CS!. Good, quick read.

Finished my essay for my silent film class. I wrote about how Metropolis redefined science-fiction cinema. I dedicated it to Jibbs.

A slot machine called "OMG! Kittens" got $80 because I kept hoping I'd go to a bonus and I thought it would be cute. WHY AM I SO STUPID?!?

An aquaintance of mine posted a crowd funding campaign to help pay for their vet bills for an emergency their cat had over the weekend.
Now I very sorry the cat got hurt and I hope it's nothing serious...but asking your network of people for money to pay for it? I get they're in the arts. I'm in the arts. Money is tight all the time, but I also don't have pets because I know can't afford them, both money and time wise. It just seems...over reaching.

People treat their pets like family. Maybe it was a last resort. Social media offers plenty of new opportunities for the desperate.

Actually, overall, the store was pretty dead. Worked crowd control for the first part of my shift, a task that usually takes up at least an hour or two for the initial rush. The initial line (everyone that was waiting in line outside for us to open) was in the store in about 10 minutes. Sure, we were busier than normal, but it certainly wasn't a "Black Friday" type of crowd. Black Friday got affected by the Ferguson riots. Some people were protesting Wal-Mart for, apparently, donating money to Darren Wilson and many people stay home to avoid the collision of Ferguson hysteria and Black Friday madness.

Maybe in some places, but Ferguson had no effect on the line at more store. People just wised up and stayed home this year, that's all.

I understand the connection and the responsibility. I've just seen so many of these things pop up lately from funding legitimate projects to paying for school tuition to funding trips to Europe. I'm starting to wonder where the saturation point is. Buy me a new house? Pay for my wedding? I'm sure it's happened.

Well, if the people agree with you then they won't fund them right? Problem solves itself

On my Facebook, this one guy was trying to get funding so his whole family could take a trip to Scotland. Pretty soon it'll the point where it's almost like

Still has a touch of migraine today.
