Dana and I just saw Bob Odenkirk at the Hasty Pudding Man of the Year presentation at Harvard.
The kids were decent enough in the roast, but man Bob's speech was killer. Faked skipping around between beginning, middle, and end.... feigned nervousness. Perfect sell all the way. Had the audience in stitches. 10/10

Lately it seems like there's been a huge push for liking bad movies for the reason of "they're fun!". As though good movies are never fun. I know this mentality has been around for a long time, but it feels ever-present right now. As if people who actually have standards for what they watch are incapable of fun.

There's definitely the idea of 'turning your brain off' or movies that are mindless fun. I indulge in movies like that every so often although much less these days however there are definitely people who almost seek out 'so bad they're good' movies for reasons that escape me. If you want to turn your brain off every once in a while that's fine but you aren't supposed to do it all the time.

Hollywood also tends to lean towards green lighting films fron franchises that tend to make a decent profit/they generally know what they will earn back. Makes sense financially but also doesn't help create new and innovative content.
