George McFly not ending up babbling in a mental institution the first time he saw Star Trek or Star Wars is the most unrealistic part of Back to the Future.

Less realistic than the family not falling apart after Lorraine McFly gave birth to a child that looks identical to that cool guy she had a crush on in high school?

Random thought of the morning or late night random movie? Went to sleep late, work early. Spent most of night thinking about BTTF between dreams. PG Cooper, need your thoughts on this film in podcast form. Script is amazing.

Think Gale and Zemeckis have talked about it, but they only know Marty for less than a day of interaction. They raise him from youth that he grows into. How many kids' faces do I remember from summer camps 20-25 years ago? Not many.

Random thought of the morning or late night random movie? Went to sleep late, work early. Spent most of night thinking about BTTF between dreams. PG Cooper, need your thoughts on this film in podcast form. Script is amazing. I did write a short letterboxd review recently: I have a bit of an off relationship with Back to the Future. I never saw the movie in full as a kid so my first real viewing was as a cinephile first discovering auteurist cinema, foreign language movies, and art house R-rated fare. With that in mind, it was easy to look down on a populist entertainment that I knew every part of from pop-culture osmosis. But finally rewatching the film as a (hopefully more mature) adult, and what a shock, Back to the Future is pretty great. The film's script is rightfully acclaimed, mixing a fun concept with a host of great characters and the tightest possible structure. Zemeckis is also having a ton of fun as director while still prioritizing the story. There's not a wasted beat here. The film on the whole is a great entertainment, and beneath the flair and escapism is an incredibly thoughtful story about realizing your parents are as human as you are. One of the rare "classic 80s" movies that genuinely lives up to that hype. 4.5/5

Well the roomie said yes so now the planning begins I guess... And my whole family outside myself is under quarantine. Everyone's boosted though shouldn't be too dicey, but sure hope it doesn't cancel Thanksgiving.

George McFly not ending up babbling in a mental institution the first time he saw Star Trek or Star Wars is the most unrealistic part of Back to the Future. Didn’t he become a successful science fiction author? Maybe he created Star Trek and Star Wars — but a shittier version since clearly they weren’t living in luxury like Biff Trump.

I doubt he would perfectly recall the words "Darth Vader" and "Vulcan" in his state.

George 30 years later: "Man, I remember when Garth Raider from planet Falcon snuck into my bedroom. That was weird."

Thanksgiving plans fell through due to family drama on parents side and sister having some sick live-in in-laws.
Gonna stay home on my own and cook myself a giant steak.

Mom and dad usually host, and over the past years they've had myself, my brother, amd an uncle living there as adults for some years. They're retirees, have earned not hosting, and are getting a prime Rib reservation. My uncle is also a newly out gay man in his 50s, and I think my mom is trying to prevent my usually well meaning dad from saying something offensive. My sister and my bro on law were the backup plan. They're trumpy, and antivax. Just learned yesterday my bro in law's vaxxed elderly sickly dad has been fighting the flu. Even if it's not COVID I don't want to get sick, or give him COVID if I'm carrying.

My family is dragging me to a restaurant, which I think is very stupid pandemicwise but I don't think I can talk them out of it at this point.

You could at least get booze. And lots of it. That’s usually not covered under a buffet tab.

Viggo Mortensen is now older than Ian McKellen was when he made the first LOTR movie.
