What makes 101 Dalmatians stand out from other Disney productions (many of which are already listed)?

Yojimbo Breakfast at Tiffanys The Hustler Jules and Jim Last Year at Marienbad Jules and Jim is already in from 62. Judgment at Nuremberg then. One of the best of the courtroom drama genre, and the performances are all great.

Here's where we stand so far after five votes (not counting Fiver):
Yojimbo: 5 Votes Last Year at Marienbad: 5 Votes Breakfast at Tiffany's: 4 Votes West Side Story: 3 Votes The Hustler: 3 Votes
Viridiana, The Victim, La Notte, 101 Dalmations, and Judgement at Nuremberg all have 1 vote.
So what are we thinking? Yojimbo and Last Year at Marienbad are the only films that seem universally agreed upon and are clearly locks, though Breakfast at Tiffany's is not far behind. I think The Hustler should be a lock too. Its a great film which is universally recognized as an American classic and is also an important step in the maturation of mainstream Hollywood.

Gotta rep my sci-fi. Fantastic Voyage is a cultural milestone that's referenced over and over again.

1. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: No brainer.
2. Persona: Art house classic with a tremendous legacy.
3. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?: Inching ever closer to the more mature Hollywood of the late 60s and 70s. Definitely as influenced subsequent films about decaying relationships.
4. The Battle of Algiers: The political significance alone is huge, but the filmmaking itself really is impressive and influential. The film sort of borrows from the aesthetic of Neo-Realism and applies it to a more overt thriller and that's definitely influenced other films trying to depict warfare realistically.
5. Andrei Rublev: Andrei Tarkovsky's most famous work, widely considered a masterpiece, and a film that was also pretty bold in its rebellious attitude.
Honourable Mentions:
Blow Up: Good movie, but I find it out classed by the other art house films, and we already have another Antonioni film.
Fantastic Voyage: The shrinking premise has definitely been done many times since, but I'm not sure if the film itself is very well remembered.

Goddammit, I need to start looking up these years more carefully. New ballot: Persona Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, The The Battle of Algiers Andre Rublev Blowup

There seems to be a pretty strong consensus around TGTB&TU, Persona, Battle of Algiers, and Andrei Rublev. Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf seems to have the most votes for the fifth slot. Any objection to making those our five?

Thinking on it more, Blowup would probably be a better choice than Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf.

Blowup is the better film and inspired DePalma's Blow Out.

Blowup is the better film and inspired DePalma's Blow Out. I don't think it's better, but it probably has had more of an impact and influence.
