FShuttari, don’t read. I need to rewatch these Mission: Impossible movies, so correct me if I’m wrong, this is the first direct sequel in the series. It picks up where Rogue Nation left off. That guy from the Syndicate tricks Ethan Hunt into helping him escape custody so he can set off three nuclear bombs. The plot is convoluted in a fun way. It starts with Hunt & Crew failing to obtain the bombs. Then they track down the bombs through this crazy hot blonde named White Widow. She tells them they’ll get the bombs if they extract whats-his-face from Rogue Nation. Hunt gets double-crossed by Superman, Syndicate Guy escapes with the bombs and the movie turns into Dark Knight Rises. The comparison to the works of Christopher Nolan are quite fair cause that’s what it feels like you’re watching most of the time. It’s very Dark Knight/Inception style. The music is even a Hans Zimmer rip-off, even though Lorne Balfe is one of Zimmer’s cronies. Overall, I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. Even the music I thought was great. The ending is a bit long... and silly... with the return of plotlines from Mission Impossible 3. Like, seriously, J.J., just stop. lol. But that’s really the only thing I have to complain about. I like the story. I like the characters. I like Nolan/Zimmer nonsense even though you’d expect me to be annoyed by it. Basically... Nolan hasn’t made a good movie in 8 years and there hasn’t been a great James Bond movie in 12 years. So this movie filled a lot of holes in my moviegoing.

Who the hell likes M:I 2? They're like Golem. They stay in little caves and rub their John Woo DVD's saying "Myyyyyyy precioussssssssssss!" They only come out to log online and bash any M:I movie that isn't the second one.

Movies like this really make you realize how...hollow the big superhero movies are when it comes to action. The action sequences in this feel so kinetic and heavy in a way that those comic book movies don't.
Also the studio claimed that almost $70M was paid out by insurance because Cruise broke his ankle which delayed filming for eight weeks. There's no way they will ever let Cruise be this fucking mental ever again. So thanks Tom. That motorcycle chase through Paris was fucking insane. I don't know what drives you to this insanity but thank you.
Easily my favorite Mission Impossible film. This is easily the best action movie I have ever seen in theatres. I will probably be seeing this multiple times in IMAX and Dolby Cinema no question.
10/10

This guy. I think it's the worst one. I... agree. It's so bland. It's just...boring. And Hoffman is wasted. People hailed him as some amazing villain, and he's...bleh.

Yea 3 is meh. But 2 is def the worst.
Spy movies as a genre always disappoint but mi has made the pivot to almost exclusively an action movie. The story just doesn't matter anymore. We just want stunts.
And I'm okay with that.

Here we go again...
M:I 3 might still be my favorite of the series. It has the most personal stakes for Ethan Hunt out of any of the movies and the chemistry between Cruise and Michelle Monaghan really lends the film a good dose of humanity, structurally the plot is so tightly-wound and the movie clips along at a very good pace, there's also a relative simplicity to the plot that actually works wonders with Abrams' directing style, and it has a Michael Giacchino score that I still frequently listen to to this day. And of course, it has the best villain of the franchise thus far. Movie doesn't get nearly as much credit as it deserves. Am I right, Doomsday?

The drone scene alone is worth the price of admission. That's why it was kind of surprising that Ghost Protocol took everything that M:I 3 did right and, well, did it another way.

Yeah, I'll give Ghost Protocol credit for the whole Dubai sequence in the middle, but apart from that, it was just another bland "We need to stop the nuke from going off!" movie.

III is fine. Hoffman is awesome but the rest of the movie is too snarky for its own good and ultimately not very memorable. I or V is the best so far. Haven't seen Fallout yet.
