The very first line in the article states, "The punching power behind Avengers: Infinity War, which hit theaters today, has been revealed in company documents showing that the $321.2 million that Disney spent on shooting the movie..." I suspect you're right, though. I didn't read the entire article, and I should have. I assumed it's accuracy because it was Forbes, and not some fanboy site. I'd be surprised if it cost that much on a split budget, but who knows? Maybe the number they cited was correct for the production budget of IW, and rather it was just the numbers of the other films that they were incorrectly comparing it to.

The budget numbers have been all over the place. A while back, somebody was saying that the combined budgets of Infinity War I & II totaled $1 billion. I knew that was bullshit. Even with the marketing factored in, there's no reason why two movies would cost that much to bring to theaters. The story was all over the internet though, because it sounded sensational.

Not that anyone would bat an eye to that claim; the decade-in-the-making Marvel movie(s) having the biggest budget. At 320 million, that makes it the most expensive Marvel movie to date. In that case, it is simply a flub on Forbes' part not making that the headline, as well it being incorrectly stated that Age of Ultron had a bigger budget.

I just realized something. In the first big fight in New York, Wong cut off Black Dwarf's hand by closing a portal on it. Seems like the same strategy would have been useful against Thanos on Titan. Maybe not. I didn't see 14 million scenarios using the Time Stone.

Maybe not. I didn't see 14 million scenarios using the Time Stone. We actually said that during the part where they're trying to get the glove off. "Cut off his arm!" This is one of those minor, directorial things, that wouldn't have been a bad idea to show them at least attempting to cut off his arm and realizing they can't cut his skin (at all or just not very effectively).
Definitely with the portal thing, as cool as the arm dismemberment was, it unfortunately does create one of those quirks where you start to go "Why aren't they doing that all the time?"

I was also sort of wondering why Strange couldn't just use his portals to get back to Earth from the spaceship after the wizard guy got killed and he was arguing with Stark about turning the ship around. Maybe the portals only work when he's on Earth?
Side note: Any idea how Tony and Blue mechanical lady are going to get off of Titan?

Tony's smart. He'll probably just take Nebula and turn her into a rocket ship. Speaking of portals, did they forget to make sure they have to wear those special knuckle rings to make them? I didn't really look for them, but I'm curious if they forgot. I'm seeing the movie again in a few hours and I'm going to look for them!

Now that the storyline is over and the next one has begun, they're forgotten. Right, like that time when War Machine stopped looking like Terrence Howard and started looking like Don Cheadle, or when Bruce Banner stopped looking like Edward Norton and started looking like Mark Ruffalo.

I'm still going to look to see if they have them! But definitely just an oversight if they don't. Both Kaecilius and the Ancient One needed them to make portals.

I can’t picture Mark Ruffalo in Incredible Hulk, running through the streets of Brazil and low-key working at a soda factory. They soft rebooted that movie. It even ended with Tony Stark approaching William Hurt about the Avengers Initiative which is never again brought up even though the character returned. That movie even set up a villain, the Tim Blake Nelson one, who’s never again mentioned. I’m sorry but that movie doesn’t exist in the MCU timeline. Them bringing back William Hurt is no different than Judi Dench being M for Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

I liked it a lot. I'm in fact kind of stunned by how good this was. I was really worried that the whole thing would be a giant clusterfuck, but by god the Russos managed to balance a ton of different characters and story beats while also giving basically everyone a moment to shine. Shit, even War Machine has some fun moments. Great pace, the characters all pop, the plot works, the action scenes are creative, and Thanos is awesome. It's a film that delivers the goods on basically everything the MCU is good at while also eschewing the more flawed elements. There was maybe a few more jokes than I would have liked, but the balance is a lot better than comparable Marvel films. Plus, there's some genuinely funny stuff here. I do still think the movie is kind of hard to judge though given it's very much a part one of two. Part two might solidify Infinity War as something really special, or it might bring it down a bit. Mainly, there's almost no way everyone who got erased at the end is really gone. I might have bought it, but I don't see them killing off basically all of the Guardians, Black Panther, and Spider-Man. It's a moment where the corporate reality of these films kind of seeps into how I respond to the fiction. Black Panther just out-grossed The Last Jedi and Sony finally have a Spider-Man people like again. No way that's going away. That said, the execution of the scene was awesome and massive respect for ending the movie like that. Strange's line to Tony does hint that he does have a plan, but they don't lean into the characters coming back to hard and that must have taken balls. Also, the execution was moving. That moment between Tony and Peter was genuinely touching and was probably the most moving thing from any of these MCU films. Spider-Man in general has become the character I'm most invested in (I loved him in this). Maybe it's because he's a kid, or just because Spider-Man is my favourite character outside of these movies, but whatever the case, I dig his inclusion in the MCU and his moment with Tony is one of the best of the series. But I digress. Anyway, great movie. I don't see it doing much for non-MCU fans and looking at it as a regular movie is a bit odd given how much it relies on our pre-existing knowledge and throwing all of these characters together, but it's a really enjoyable and entertaining blockbuster. I'm not sure if it shatters my MCU glass ceiling and to become a top-tier superhero movie on the level of The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 2, or Logan, but depending on how Part Two turns out, we'll see. A-

Does Incredible Hulk even count at this point? It’s funny how that movie has become the black sheep of the franchise. It still counts. The "Battle of Harlem" is referred to in Iron Man 2, Avengers, Daredevil and one of the Marvel One-Shot's. It's only a black sheep because of the distribution rights issues with Universal Pictures. If Buena Vista had the distribution rights to Hulk, we'd be getting solo films. Since they don't, Banner/Hulk gets to have his own side story running throughout several films.

That's a lot of Tumms. A constant diet of chimichangas and tacos is clearly giving Wade a serious heart burn problem. Good thing he's got that healing factor.
