Further details about the Delta Knights situation: apparently the elusive rights holders were tracked down by MSTie Joshua Murphy, who co-hosted the now defunct MSTieCast podcast, and they were contacted by him this year. Mapping out film rights to MSTed films was a side hobby to his fandom, and I remember several years ago both him and fellow film right enthusiast Travis Hosey (who helped point Shout in the right direction in the past) had said they had a theory as to who might own the rights to this film. I don't know if this is the result of pulling on that thread, but their treasure hunt struck gold. They aren't saying who the rightsholders are just yet, but they did hint that they're credited in the film.
It's important to note this because the same notorious party who was pushing rumors that Shout used a lawsuit to license the Susan Hart films last year (and was also trying to spark speculation that Shout was selling the MST property earlier this year, mind you) was trying to push the idea the Shout never found the rightsholders to this film and just put it out to see if they got sued. Not only is that a trash tactic, it is also very wrong, so if anyone tries to tell you otherwise, they don't know what they're talking about.
Bottom line: it's legit folks. Enjoy.

I've been going through a playlist of all the BOTW while I'm marking assignments. Next week I dig into final projects so Rich Evans's laughter will echo through my apartment.

Not long after picking up my blu-ray of The Spider, I added a few more non-riffed flicks to my collection. I've just bought some DVDs with The Amazing Transparent Man, Reptilicus, and The Time Travelers.
Video isn't too hot, but some of these are the best I can get.

Are you at all familiar with the Monarch Books novelization of Reptilicus or Gorgo? Can't say that I am. I think I've heard of them though. Monarch Books was a pulp novel publisher. They printed erotica, and used the same writers on their movie adaptations as they did for everything else. While the two sisters in Reptilicus may have only flirted with the male leads of the film, they did more in the book. A lot more. A whole lot more. I haven't read the entire book, but I've read some excerpts.

Lord have mercy. Shout Factory TV will be streaming a marathon of Gamera episodes on September 1st. What this means for the future of those episodes is unclear, but this is good news, either way.

I hope this means that Shout! Factory will be able to reissue the MST3K vs Gamera DVD box set.

My best guess about this news is that something about Kadokawa's deal with Arrow opened a door to Shout again. Whether they were just approved for a one time only streaming marathon or if there are future plans for these episodes remains to be seen.

Whether they were just approved for a one time only streaming marathon or if there are future plans for these episodes remains to be seen. I have to think that if it were a one off marathon, they wouldn't be starting it on a Tuesday at 8am, when everyone is at work. It would be on a weekend. I wish they'd provided more notice. I'd have requested that day off. Riffing along in the chat is one of my favorite things to do. Lately, the Twitch channel has been in a serious programming rut. Now that they have Quest of the Delta Knights, they show it every other day, along with King Dinosaur, Master Ninja I & II, and a handful of others on constant repeat. The days when they showed every episode in the Shout! Factory library before repeating anything are long gone.

That's possible. I lose track of what day is what because Tuesdays are my normal days off.
My big hope when I hear news like this is that Shout hopefully has some sort of distribution plans for KTMA episodes, which is a longshot, but mostly my wishful thinking. I think they missed a step by not including them as special features on sets featuring the Gamera episodes, Fugitive Alien, Time of the Apes, and Mighty Jack, especially since it was mentioned in a previous interview that they could have. They probably have no desire for disc releases, but releasing them as digital downloads for the fans that do want them, like they did with Invaders from the Deep and Revenge of the Mysterons from Mars, would still be a solid option if they were up to it.
But that would also could mean licensing out a bunch of other films with minimal return, so that probably wouldn't happen.

One thing I will say is that Shout's vigilance in trying to make as many MST episodes as available as possible has always impressed me, and getting the rights to these episodes again still shows me that I can expect the unexpected.

You make it as long as it needs to be. I don't work with limitation. I'm like Zack Snyder. I must be self-indulgent and make my Tremors 7 review the equivalent to a four hour Snyder Cut. You thought my Tulsa review was insane, you aint seen nothin' yet.
