Theaters are selling out. I don't think this had a ridiculous budget, so they probably already made their money back. The production budget is reportedly $175 million. The marketing budget is likely in the $75 - $100 million range. Suicide Squad has to make a whole lot of money to make it into the black. What's worse, this movie has not yet been approved for a release in China. Since the lead characters are criminals, and they're fighting a mystical villainess, Suicide Squad will likely not be screened there. Suicide Squad is on track to open with $140 million. If it has the same legs as Batman vs Superman, it'll gross $300 million. Based on how well it does internationally, it could break even or make a small profit. I don't see it being a failure. The movie has already made a shit ton on merchandising. Casting Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn was genius. They're printing money by putting her face on everything.

Rotten Tomatoes has it at 36 percent. If Ghostbusters remake can get 73 percent and this which looks least better then Man of steel. It makes me worry that critics are hating anything DC right now or hating on comic book movies. Now im not saying its rigged DC movies. Just critics kinda are hating on there films. Its kinda like when most critics hate Sandler movies or Any Costner movie after Waterworld other then Open Range.

Yes, you are saying it's rigged.
And Sandler movies are the worst movies on the planet. Deal with it.

The one reviewer I count on, Jeremy Jahns, gave this a glowing review. He squashed BvS. So I dont give a damn what these critics think

Im not saying its rigged by Disney too make only Marvel movies good. I am saying Rotten Tomatoes has been very weird when comes too picking movies when comes too comics. And then there are comedy movies that stink they love which make you scratch your head.

I've agreed with majority of rotten tomatoes reviews... BvS was a terrible film, no doubt about it and Man of Steel was good not great but good... In my opinion I don't think I'll even give Suicide Squad a chance... I'll check it out on blu-ray or my wife really wants to see it.
But I'm glad a system like rt exists... It helps me stay away from crappy movies... It costs a lot of money these days to see a film. If I'm giving my hard earned money, I'd rather read reviews first and know it's worth giving my time and paycheck

It might be best to leave it at that.

These are people so stupid that they decide to start a petition against bad reviews for a movie they haven't seen yet.

They've also started a petition demanding that Van Helsing and Wild Wild West receive the positive reviews they deserved. Leave no cold case behind! Speed 2: Cruise Control is next! People get up in arms about these films as if they had a part in making them. Most people haven't even seen the film yet, so how can they say critics are being unfair? Then again, this is Vader logic, so basically there is no logic.

It's high time for a good anti-critic revolution.

I'm not particularly worried. Loved Man of Steel and BvS was a mess, but I still liked it overall, so DC is 2 for 2 with me so far. I'm still pretty stoked to see this.

Oh I no Rotten Tomatoes is owned by Warner Brothers and I know the tallies are based on the critics rankings and the the average movie goer rankings. And No I am not part of any petition. I just have always believed that why do people need someone else or a group of some one else's too tell me or that person why too see a movie.
We are in the era where we can get all information needed on a film with at least 3 trailers, the often bio of the movie is about and who is in the movie. Its a weak cop out too say went too a movie because Roeper or some critics say. You should know what you like and dont is my only thing about movies and some needing a bunch of overpaid people who maybe get board with there job too tell you what too pay your money on.
Do i think disney or marvel want DC to fail no. Because Marvels needs comic movies too thrive. Do I think Critics can be biased absolutely. Some people hate a movie before they see it why is a critic no less a human of that fact. Humans can be swayed without being bought. I think overall reviewers expect DC films too be bad and so their in that rut in thinking so. Its gonna take a really good dc film too get Critics back in my view because of Critic hate for Snyder right now.

I think overall reviewers expect DC films too be bad and so their in that rut in thinking so. Its gonna take a really good dc film too get Critics back in my view because of Critic hate for Snyder right now. First, people don't need a "group of someone else's" to tell people to see a movie, we are all allowed to make our own decisions. You are speaking as though critics dictate which movies we can and cannot go to. They are simply a resource that some people may use, but I think there are very few people who make all their movie-going decisions entirely based on critics. If you want to ignore critics, guess what! You can! Second, you are speaking about critics as though they are all one united body. Of course they aren't. Do some have biases? Sure, but they dont all have the same biases. If the majority of a movie gets bad reviews, chances are the reason is because its objectively not a very good movie. That doesn't mean people who go see it can't like it, and that doesn't mean there wont even be critics who appreciate it. Maybe instead of assuming you know why a critic doesnt like a film or group of films, actually read their reviews with an open mind to learn why they dont.

Here is the problem with some Rotten Tomatoes reviewers some reviews seem like they hate the movie but end up getting a fresh vote and there are times the reviews sound like i have heard that review before. Trust me have read plenty of comic book movie reviews this summer. I may have worded a few things in my posts wrong which can happen. Here is the thing i mean why do critic s get too see movies so early. I always felt movies should release too everyone the same time. Then again i missed a time where we got movies with trailers that didnt tell the movie before hand. How many trailers did suicide squad have for i counted one teaser, then it was the wide release, then it was the ball room blitz one, then it was the so called final trailer and then we got a comic con trailer.

Rather than going up, the RT score for Suicide Squad has actually gotten worse. It's now down to 26%, and having now seen the flick, I can certainly understand why. While I wouldn't say the movie is bad, it's certainly not good either. Whoever is responsible for the creation of those movie trailers deserves a big raise, because they took a fairly bland movie and made it look amazing.

While the marketing was pretty damn good, it was definitely a case of false advertising. Apparently the first trailer released for the movie made it out to be far more fun-going than it actually was. It was what resulted in some reshoots and reedits to better fit the first trailer, and they ended up doing test screenings for two different cuts. Ayer's original, more serious cut, and a cut with some more fun infused into the film. Apparently test audiences liked the "fun" cut better, which is what we got. Ayer's cut reportedly had more Joker in it, too. Not sure how much of a difference that would have made for me. I found Jared Leto's Joker to be pretty bland.

These review, DC is in some serious trouble, by the time we finally get Batman with a solo film, no one will care because all these movies will be failures. I get your logic, but I actually think the Affleck Batman movie will reignite the critical acclaim for WB/DC movies and serve as a springboard for their future success.

I think Wonder Women will end the DC and WB critic dislike freefall. Some will see it as a female captain america. BUt I just have a really good feeling about Wonder Women, Affleck Batman and Momoa as Aquaman. The rest i am fearful for somewhat.

Wonder Woman definitely has a lot of potential...as long as WB doesn't try to "fix" it too much.
