It also doesn't help that they are trying to basically jump on the Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool B.O. train... DC doesn't understand it's own brand, and WB Studios all they care about is money; so they are going to do whatever it takes to make the movie succeed financially... screw trying to make it an actual good movie that has the ability to be fun and original at the same time... Its what I am saying Marvels success has been they know when too get out of the director and writers way. DC just needs to hire people and let them just deliver the product un interfered with. David Ayer and the Trailers showed a decent movie. More humor is not needed these guys are a bunch of villains. Its not daily night at the improve. Yes you need humor in movies and thats Marvels success but Suicide Squad is not Deadpool and too many jokes or any changes could ruin what flow. This will put allot of Pressure on Ayer considering how bad the movie is dropping BO wise. |

I find myself considerably more optimistic about Suicide Squad. David Ayer seems to have a much better handle on the DCU than Snyder, if the marketing is to be believed. I don't know if this can out perform BvS, but if it really is as good as it looks, the critical reception should be far more positive.

This Movie is in August but It still can get 300 Million Domesticly I think because word of mouth as been solid were as B vs S always had concerns and may I add the Trailers have told me that David Ayer not Affleck should Direct Batman too but Ben can help Write the Batman Movie but let Ayer stay in this world.

The marketing people for this movie are killing it so far. My excitement level for this film is approaching how much I'm also anticipating Civil War, if it isn't there already.

37% on Rotten Tomatoes.....oh boy. Been calling this for awhile now. A PG-13 movie attempting to show off a bunch of "badass" villains, yeah fucking right. Apologists are already making excuses. I had no interest in this mess of a movie before and I'm glad I won't be eating my words. Another failure for DC, another failure to add to this summer's highly disappointing lineup. Boo! I'm tired of mediocre to poo movies. I still have the aftertaste of Ghostbusters in my mouth.
I thought the trailers for this movie were damn good, though. Excellent marketing team. I'm still planning on seeing it Thursday, but I suppose I'll try to go in with low expectations. Seriously, what the balls, Warner Brothers?

Definitely can't deny the marketing was good, this film will make its money this weekend. The drop off will be sharp though.

Theaters are selling out. I don't think this had a ridiculous budget, so they probably already made their money back. The production budget is reportedly $175 million. The marketing budget is likely in the $75 - $100 million range. Suicide Squad has to make a whole lot of money to make it into the black. What's worse, this movie has not yet been approved for a release in China. Since the lead characters are criminals, and they're fighting a mystical villainess, Suicide Squad will likely not be screened there. |

The marketing was good up until the individual showcase videos. I got really sick of Ballroom Blitz after the third one, and the characters seemed kind of .... generic?
I was hoping Will Smith wasn't the only one still trying to play a "good guy", I got that sense a few time with those clips.
It will be big, but yeah, sharp drop off.
