I'm going to avoid reading a synopsis like I did with this book. I knew 0% going into it.

Me too, I already read one sentence on reddit about 'Death's End' and even though it was incredibly vague it was enough to make me go out of my way to avoid reading anything else in future.

The last few I have listened to are...
The Hitler I Knew: Memoirs of the Third Reich's Press Chief by Otto Dietrich Every Mother's Nightmare by Chris Bosworth The World's Most Evil Psychopaths by John Marlowe Murder in the Stacks: Penn State, Betsy Aardsma, and the Killer Who Got Away by David Dekok Body Count by Burl Barer The Misbegotten Son by Jack Olsen Library of Souls: The Third Novel of Miss Paragrine's Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
And now I'm listening to Star Wars: The Force Awakens by Alan Dean Foster because I can't go see the movie.

The Magicians by Lev Grossman. It DEFINITELY borrows a lot from other fantasy series (it's basically a more adult Harry Potter so far) and it's very...prose-y, but Grossman writes that prose very well and I'm still interested in seeing where he takes the story.

Well so far they have taken some of the ideas from the first book, like the cruciform parasite, and really expanded on them in an interesting way. I'm only about a third of the way through, but i'd recommend it so far.

Finished some film reading so now I'm finally onto Thomas Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow. I'm only 20 pages in, but I love it so far.

Having seen this mentioned earlier in the thread, I had to check it out. It is really a great read so far.

Only 100 pages, it's a book that when I sit down to read I want to be seriously focused on so I haven't been powering through it. I'm hoping to get 100 more pages read this weekend. Have you read it?

Yes, a long time ago. I loved that book and it seriously made me want to be a writer. More recently, however, I read "Infinite Jest"--another behemoth of a novel. Like "Gravity's Rainbow", it's one that requires every ounce of your concentration, or you'll just lose the thread completely.

Yeah, I've heard that's a tough one as well. I've been so impressed by Pynchon's style. After Gravity's Rainbow I'm thinking of checking out Mason & Dixon. Even though that's another massive, sprawling novel by him I've heard it's just as good as Gravity's Rainbow. I haven't been this excited to read a novel in awhile.
