Not feeling inspired by what's on my wish list, I looked at Audible's Popular Features. It's several lists that include various award winners, favorites, editors picks, books to movies, and other categories.
At first I decided on Hard Magic by Larry Coriea because I love his Monster Hunter International series, but I really couldn't get into it after listening from the start several times - so I returned it and picked up a book called 14 by Peter Grimes. Never read any of his stuff but the description sounded interesting.
I am almost finished with it and it has been pretty enjoyable - it's about a guy who gets word that there's a really inexpensive apartment for rent in the middle of Los Angeles - How inexpensive? Try just over $500 for a studio apartment. So he jumps on it, and moves in - and then things get mysterious and weird. First of all, the building is completely off the power grid, compasses, and other things sometimes don't work within the building - and there are strange green cockroaches that run about acting peculiar.
Next, I'm not sure what I will pick, but it will probably be another Fantasy/horror/or science fiction like this one - this was pretty good.

Finished "The Three-Body Problem" by Cixin Liu, bringing my Hugo count to 63. Although funny thing, it wasn't a Hugo winner when I started the book. It won the 2015 award three days ago.
Only four left to go!
I'm now reading "Player Piano" by Kurt Vonnegut.

I picked A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay because the description sounded good and it got 5 out of 5 stars from customers. I was looking for something spooky in a horror story, but this wasn't that - it turned out differently than I had expected.
It was about a family of four that have a TV crew come to their house to film the teenage daughter's exorcism so they can pay their mortgage and keep their house. It wasn't what I expected but it was nicely written and had a very good narrator. All in all, I did enjoy it.
Next I dunno - might have to wait until next month before I buy another audio book - maybe I will look at my old list and see what I might try to listen to again. There's nothing interesting really over at the digital Library...I guess there's always a few on my Kindle list I haven't read.

I'm now reading "Player Piano" by Kurt Vonnegut. Heh, I was about to come on here and ask if you'd read it after I noticed it won the Hugo. What did you think? Oh it was quite good. It's an alien book, but it's about something I've thought of a lot and have never seen in science fiction: what would the discovery of extra-terrestrials REALLY do to society? (Short answer, it would fuck things up). Although the book was about a lot of other things, like the Chinese cultural revolution of the 1960s, and a video game.
I was also happy to see the second book in the trilogy was recently translated (this trilogy is Chinese and goes back to 2008) and released 3 weeks ago. Already ordered it. Third book comes out in English in April.

Dexter is Dead was ok.
Next I'm still looking for a great Horror book - something really scary that doesn't involve Zombies (they kind of bore me) - so if anyone has some suggestions? I'm all ears. Examples of some of my favorites - The Exorcist, The Shining, Carrie, Salem's Lot, and HP Lovecraft's books.
Meanwhile I found a book called Killer Instinct by S.E. Green - it's about a teenage girl who tries to stop criminals without crossing the line herself - she's a budding serial killer, at least she's got the instinct. Teenage Female Dexter in training lol

Finished The Martian on Friday. Really good book; LOTS of science-y technical talk, but still a very enjoyable -- and fast -- read.
Now working on Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.

Finished A Killer Among Us by Charles Bosworth - it's about a husband who hires someone to kill his wife while he takes the kids on a mini vacation - but police are instantly suspicious of him when he shows no emotion at the news, and even says he will have to wait until morning to see if the kids want to go home or stay out and "do some fun things" - he obviously did not cover his tracks at all and got caught telling the police things that just were not true. Interesting how dumb people can be. I also finished The Darkest Night by Ron Francell - a really good book about two losers who try to get away with Killing two sisters ages 18 and her 11 year old sister who were just out on an errand to pick up a few items at the store for their mother after 9pm. It follows the survivor, 18 year old Becky in her struggle to stay alive to get those killers, and her survivor's guilt that consumed the rest of her life. It also tells of the killers fates and their excuses in their own minds for what they did. Next I thought I'd go for some horror again with a novel called The Pilo Traveling Show by Will Elliot - The cover really caught my eye. It's about a creepy circus. EDIT - well bummer. I just found out one of my favorite True Crime authors died this year Ann Rule (1930 - 2015) American Author. A former Seattle Policewoman She once was a volunteer on a Suicide Hot Line and worked at night along side none other than Ted Bundy a prolific serial killer in the 70's and 80's. She said he was a nice guy and it was just the two of them in the building lol every night!

ok, The Pilo Traveling Show was creepy and very weird. The narrator with an Aussie accent did pretty good job of characters. It wasn't really scary horror, but pretty strange - like, ok I want to wake up now kind of strange
