Finished "Ready Player One." Very fun book; hard to put down at times.
Not sure what I'm reading next. Probably "Stand on Zanzibar" by John Brunner.

Starting over with Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons - I couldn't get into it at first, but after a while it started to grab me, so back to the beginning.
Goebbels: A Biography by Peter Longerich, Alan Bance - translator, Jeremy Noakes - translator, Lesley Sharpe - translator - a look at the life of Josef Goebbels the propagandist of Nazi Germany through his personal journals - very interesting.
I'd Kill For You by M William Phelps - Another vampire teen story gone psycho. This teenage girl planted the thought that she was getting beaten by her father into this other teen's head - so he went out (lost in fantasy) and killed her father to stop the abuse (which wasn't happening). The two people who took him to the house and the killer and the girl all got caught and sentenced.
There are a few more I listened to but that's all I'm listing for now

Oh man, just when you think you've heard the craziest True Crime story you're ever gonna hear in your life....along comes Theresa Knorr. Mother's Day is the book written by Dennis McDougal - it's got murders, torture, child abuse, devil worship, grifting and all kinds of craziness. It's completely insane - something you would not believe if it were a movie - but, it actually happened. She messed her kids up baad! So... Ready Player One is a good book?

Interesting. Would you read it despite the Hugo count, even with the movie?
I just started Forever War.

Planet of the Apes isn't a Hugo winner. I'll report on it when I'm done, but it's a great read. Easy one, too.

Finished Planet of the Apes. Haven't decided what I'm reading next.
Pretty cool. He has to learn their language in this one and the book is mostly about proving to this society that he's not a trick pet, but an intelligent being. Then things get crazy at the end when he gets that Mute pregnant.

Finished
Is He Dead? by Rick H Drew - about an abusive guy and his frightened family who have finally had enough. Wow what a monster - got what he deserved alright
Severed: A History of Heads Lost and Heads Found by Frances Larson - a really good read about all kinds of historical heads, headhunters, guillotine victims, heads for scientific study, heads of saints - just all kinds of interesting things
Call Me Tuesday by Leigh Byrne - about a child that fell through the cracks and endured through abuse- there's a follow up book but I'm not getting it.
Chasing Ghosts by Barry Klinge, Brad Klinge - Ghost hunters from Texas who formed Everyday Ghosts a team that has done hundreds of investigations into really strange places. They were featured in a TV series called Ghost Lab on Discovery.
Son by Jack Olsen - about a real snake in the grass who was a serial rapist who tried to hire a hitman while in prison awaiting trial.
Repeat Offender by Bradley Nickell, Warren Jamison - about a burglar and his ring of thieves who had warehouses filled with millions of dollars worth of stolen collectibles, stereos, and priceless works of art. He kept on eluding police over and over again, until they finally caught him and his ring.
Poison Ivy by Elizabeth Parker, Mark Ebner - about Dalia Dippolito who was caught in a sting operation while trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband after she had tried to get him arrested by violating his probation, and after swindling him out of $100k. You can see her famous Cops video on Youtube followed by her completely lying ass in interrogation at the police station. Funny stuff - unfortunately she's only under house arrest until her appeal for her conviction.
Before He Wakes by Jerry Bledsoe - about a black widow killer - she killed two husbands - got away with the first, and then got caught when she did it again. Strange lady.
Now I am listening to Under the Dome by Stephen King - I tried to listen to The Talisman but didn't like it at all - that's why I like Audible, you can return a book for almost any reason up to a certain date after purchasing it, and get your credit back to pick another book. Nice to do once in a while - but do it too often and they want you to give them a call on the phone.

Ughh my wife likes that show Under the Dome. It's actually filmed about 20 minutes away from my house, I could only make it through a couple episodes before not being able to stand it anymore.
Just finished The River of Doubt, a really good book about Teddy Roosevelt's journey through an uncharted amazon river back in 1914.
Got to figure out what to read next I'm going to the bookstore this weekend to pick me up something.

Under the Dome by Stephen King - this was a good one up to a certain point, I didn't quite like the ending but I understood where he went with it.
Death Sentence by Jerry Bledsoe - another Black Widow killer who offed about 5 people including her own mother. She got waaay into prescription tranquilizers and pain killers, and pretty much lost her mind until she was put in prison and sobered up.
The Mad Chopper by Fred Rosen - I remember seeing his first crime victim on a talk show back in the late 70's. She was a 16 year old who was hitchhiking in California and then HE picked her up. After raping her, he left her in a drainage ditch - he thought he'd killed her by strangulation, and then in order to delay identification of the body - he took an axe and chopped both her forearms off and tossed them in a river. She survived - and he went to prison - but was let out early for good behavior.
The next time the cops heard of him was on an emergency call - he answered the door naked, covered in blood, and wearing a condom. Yeah, so much for good behavior.
Next, I'll probably get bored with it but I'm curious to see what he had to say.. Mein Kampf: The Ford Translation by Adolf Hitler, Michael Ford (Translator)

Finished Mein Kampf: The Ford Translation and thought it was both interesting and boring at the same time. First half of the book is all about history as Hitler saw it, who had power, conflicts, who made mistakes etc. and about German culture.
About half way through, he starts talking about WWI and the different ways both sides treated the masses and dealt with propaganda. And here he was very specific as to what, and how much to tell the common folk, and how to keep it in the most simple of terms so that everyone could understand it, and not be disheartened by it. He thought the Germans told their people way too much, and way too much of the truth about how bad things were going in WWI. The British kept it more simple and played it more close to the chest and therefore kept up morale.
Next he starts talking about changing ideas and how you have to purge a generation of thought before you can change ideas and customs. Otherwise there will still be lingering remnants of the old thinking and of the old ways. And here he starts really talking about Jews and how they are degrading the purity of the population, and doing it more so by bringing Negroes into the population to spread their impurities even further.
From here he finishes up by stating his plans to establish the Nazi party, spreading the word on the meetings, and how to insert the party into the government.
Glad I listened to it once, but once was enough.
Next I picked up The Ultimate Pirate Collection: Blackbeard, Francis Drake, Captain Kidd, Captain Morgan, Grace O'Malley, Black Bart, Calico Jack, Anne Bonny, Mary Read, Henry Every and Howell Davis by Charles River Editors

Finished War of the Worlds couple days ago now I remember why it was just laying around my house. Just couldn't keep my interest, very dry reading.
Just got done with Animal Farm a couple hours ago really enjoyed this one, think I'm going to pick up Brave New World next.

I was always disappointed that we never read Animal Farm or Brave New World in school. We read 1984, but I wanted more. I'll likely check those out sometime soon, it's been overdue.

Animal Farm was good and it shouldn't take long to read it either, it's around 150 pages (my copy anyway).
Had to brush up a little on Soviet Union history before reading. The whole book is a allegory for the Russian Revolution and into the Stalin era.
