THE CALM
Even in its 3rd season, Arrow continues to remind us that it's the anti-Smallville. So much stuff happened in the first episode of the season that I haven't been able to process it all. Diggle's daughter was born. Superman took over Oliver Queen's company. Oliver and Felicity went on a date and had their first real kiss. A major character was killed. Starling City is now STAR City. Wait. Let's back up. A MAJOR CHARACTER WAS KILLED! As much as I enjoyed the episode, who kills a major character in the premiere? Especially one that's already fully loaded with stuff. I was perfectly fine with the episode ending on The Flash making an appearance. They should have left that death for the second episode.

The Calm
Good first episode back. I think I will miss Sara, she was a solid addition to the cast. I didn't like her at first, but that changed over the course of the season. Wonder who killed her. Are we supposed to assume it was Merlyn? My first thought was Ra's I suppose, but I'm sure there's a lot more to it. I just hope this doesn't mean we're going to see Laurel eventually don the mask this season (or ever), I just don't think she's a good fit for it. I've always liked the relationship between the three main characters (Oliver, Diggle, and Felicity), and all three characters were kind of pushed into new territor with this episode. That's always good. Curious to see more out of Hong Kong, being off the island feels refreshing. Brandon Routh's character will be interesting. Good episode.

A little boring. Hong Kong was interesting, but the present day piece was slow. I think I'm going to let 3-4 episodes build on my DVR before coming back to this. Watching this show week by week is apparently not going to pull me in. I did really like Oliver telling Dig that he didn't want to die "down here," but not a whole lot else.

I could definitely do without Laurel becoming the new Black Canary, but I guess at this point it's inevitable. I'm now left wondering if we're going to be seeing the introduction of Wildcat, now that Ted Grant has been introduced. He's awfully young to be a proper version of Wildcat, but CW doesn't believe in superheroes over forty.

The Brave and The Bold.
Oliver, Arsenal and Diggle track down the location of a boomerang-wielding killer named Digger Harkness (guest star Nick Tarabay) but are surprised when they come face to face with an A.R.G.U.S. team. Diggle asks Lyla why A.R.G.U.S. is involved but she defers until Harkness attacks the building, killing several agents and targeting Lyla. The Arrow joins the fight and gets help from an old friend – The Flash. Harkness manages to get away and Oliver teams up with Barry again to find him before he can get to Lyla. When Harkness plants five bombs in the city that are timed to explode at the same time, both teams must come together to save the city.
