I finally got to make the dumb Youtuber face. Seminal moment. thebtskink I get to your question at around 36:20. I also realize that I'm not totally sure how to pronounce your username and just sorta wing it. Cool vid. Always had a soft spot for vids like this where YT personalities I like discuss movies in a "shooting the shit" kind of style. Next time, I'll submit a question.

Aww, look how curly his hair is Quarantine means it hasn't been cut in a while. Curious how far I can push it. Not gonna lie, in your thumbnail you kinda resemble Guru Larry.

You're favorite directors are Kubrick, Kurosawa, Scorsese, Hitchcock and Paul Thomas Anderson.
Oh no, you aren't getting off that easy. You need to pick one. Alright, pick two. We'll let you pick two.

PG Cooper SnoBorderZeroHere’s an idea for a video. Barry Sonnenfeld is notoriously against panning. Men in Black (1997) is on Comedy Central right now. You know the scene in the morgue when the Bug kidnaps whats-her-face? This motherfucker panned like 3 or 4 times. I think you should watch all the Coen Bros movies that Sonnenfeld was a DP on and then watch all the movies he directed and do a video montage of every time Sonnenfeld pans the camera. Then send a link to his agent/manager. Or just have Doomsday send it to Amblin and they’ll forward it to him. I’ll pay you good money for it www.patreon.com/eyebrowcinema

Hey Coop, any Criterion's you've been eyeballing? If you have venmo and want to send some scratch my way I can pick up a couple for you and send them your way, shipping will be on me so long as it's not too crazy. That can be my contribution this month to Eyebrow Cinema.

That can be my contribution this month to Eyebrow Cinema. That's really kind of you but I think I'm good right now. The only Criterion I'm eyeing (appropriately enough for a video) is The Game and I think my partner will grab it for my birthday next month. PG Cooper, I'll send you some nudes. That'll be my contribution this month. Can they be someone else's nudes?

Or an excuse to watch Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller’s Crossing, The Addams Family, Men in Black and that movie in which Kevin Spacey turns into a cat.

Mostly really enjoyed this. Loved the quantitative consideration of Nolan's cinematography. That said, there are a couple of points that I disagree with, namely the criticism of action in Batman Begins being disorienting. The Waynes death is supposed to be chaotic and awkward. It makes the moment more viscerally upsetting for the audience and emphasizes Chill as awkward and desperate not a sadistic mastermind (as in the Zodiac comparison). Similarly, the whole point of the fight scenes is to emphasize Batman as a terrifying creature of the night. We feel the same confusion as the thugs Batman is preying on. Nolan compared his approach to filming Batman to the first Alien movie, where we don't really know what the alien does to his victims. You can argue that doesn't work when we're meant to identify with Batman as the hero, but I think its appropriate for a story establishing the fear Batman instills. Also, like a lot of Patrick's stuff, there's too much skits for my test. I like Matt Whines just because Matt Torpey rules but the Charl stuff was never funny and has only gotten worse.

Yeah, that's the other disappointment, albeit a minor one with the video. It falls down a semi-common rabbithole. Not nearly as insufferable as, say, "Avatar is just blue Pocahontas/Ferngully/Dances with Wolves", but still.

Following my placement of The Wolf of Wall Street as the best film of the decade, this video is part 2 in my effort to alienate PhantomKnight as a friend. Did I do something to you in a past life?
