Sigh, I just wanted to talk about The Godfather... I watched the video earlier. Awesome stuff. Made me want to watch the movies again. That's how I felt all through the editing process. Man, that restaurant shooting scene is so good. I'm surprised you didnt talk about Carlos' death in the final shooting montage. I feel there are some parallels with Fredo there. Ah, good connection. I guess Carlo's death feels more like an epilogue to the baptism that I didn't see fit to include it but it absolutely serves a similar function. “Vito had it easy.” Naaaaaaaaaah The point of The Godfather is the collapse of the American Dream. The position in life and the choices that Vito made manifested themselves into the crimes of Michael. It’s like how Fred Trump was a simple real estate criminal and his son Donald Trump is a fucking moron that’s gonna get us all killed. Godfather II isn’t about light & dark. It’s about cause & effect. Go back and do the video essay correctly. But only after you’ve done a Cats video essay. I think we're arguing the same thing. My point in saying Vito had it easier is that moral dilemmas and consequences he faced were more clear cut than Michael. That allows him to wear the facade of a good men, but the horrific consequences of his choices eventually come to bear on Michael. And also make sure you drop in that Donald Trump reference when you re-do the video essay, so all those Nazi’s from your Indians Jones video essay can give you those sweet sweet views. Gotta get those hate clicks.

But it's all wrapped in Americana. Godfather is as much Vito's story as it is Michael's.
The centerpiece of your thesis should have been the scene in which Vito tells Michael he didn't want this life for him. Contrast that with the flashback in Part 2 when Michael announces he's enlisting in WWII. Everyone is disgusted. But that's the path Vito always wanted. He wanted Michael to be the stereotypical American. The Norman Rockwell/White Picketfence nonsense. But corruption caught up even with his favorite son. Vito didn't have it "easy". Motherfucker got shot in the middle of the street and that moment triggered the downfall of his family.

The choices Vito made prevented Michael from having the life that either man wanted for him. And again, Vito having it easy refers to the moral choices he had to make versus the ones Michael faced.

Five hours of awesomeness. It's technically a mini-series.

The full version is.
The "theatrical" release is three hours.
It's also great, but you don't get the ghost interactions and a lot of the nuisances. It's probably the only movie I'd argue actually greatly benefits from an extra two hours when it's already incredibly long.

Police Story is awesome. I think it can be argued it's Jackie Chan's best movie, or at the very least one of his best (I'm also a big fan of Operation Condor).
Police Story 2 I'm not as into, but it has some solid moments and of all the Police Story sequels it's the most similar to the first.
Supercop and First Strike were released in China as Police Story 3 and 4, though over here they were released by different companies and dubbed the film's refering to Jackie Chan's character as "Jackie Chan," so they're very much Jackie persona movies as opposed to Police Story sequels. Supercop is very solid with some great action, and it has Jackie teaming up with Michelle Yeoh, which is a huge "YES PLEASE" from me. First Strike is more average, but great stunts.
Jackie Chan more recently did New Police Story and Police Story: Lockdown, which are not really sequels but rather just using the brand to sell new Jackie Chan movies. They're much more dour and not as fun, so I'd consider them skippable.

Thanks for the insight. And I agree that Police Story 2 is a step-down from one. It takes itself too seriously, is a bit slower, and the action isn't quite as good. The resteraunt and warehouse fights are both awesome though.

That's me for ya. Bring up the Godfather, I'm like "'kay." All I think when I think about them is that two are very good and one is "Sure, I guess."
But bring up Police Story and I'm like "Fuck, I got some opinions on that!"

What would even be your top 10? LOTR? Batman? Transformers!? C’mon, Coop. I know Nazi’s are your main audience, but do a video for the rest of us.
