Ah yes, Summer with Monika, the first in Bergman's lauded Friends trilogy, though I personally preferred the less well-received, but more boob-heavy, Autumn with Phoebe and Winter with Rachel.

Great work. It's been awhile since I watched a lot of Bergman's early films and your essays are making me want to revisit them.

This was really good, makes you wish Kershner got more movies to take a crack at in his career.

Kershner actually had one of the larger "Outside Star Wars" careers in that franchise. His directorial filmography count is second only to Ron Howard.

It'll be curious to see what becomes of the younger filmmakers. I don't know if Rian Johnson has made anything I love, but he's probably the most exciting of the three. He seems interested in working in different genres and has developed a much more distinct voice than J.J. Abrams. The dark horse is Gareth Edwards. I haven't seen Monsters, but with Rogue One and Godzilla he's made two really nice looking movies with consistent tones out of pretty dumb and boring scripts.

Rian Johnson directed the Fly episode of Breaking Bad. His legacy is set.

Ah. Correction. He has made something I love. His Breaking Bad episodes. Dude's a good craftsman and Knives Out is probably my favouite of his films so hopefully he makes a really awesome film in the future.

He also made Looper, which I love. Enjoyed it a lot in 2012, haven't thought about it much since. It's definitely good though. Has a certain Spielbergian approach to adding comedy to action scenes.

I'll admit it's been a while since I last saw Looper, but it really has stuck with me all these years. I was actually thinking of re-watching it soon. I'm sure I can squeeze it into my schedule somewhere now.

I saw Looper once. Enjoyed it at the time, but never went back.
Knives Out I plan on watching again many times.
Last Jedi is Star Wars, so it can go fuck itself.
Haven't seen Brick or Brothers Bloom, decline comment.

I remember being unimpressed by Brothers Bloom. You know what I don't remember? Y'all talking this much about Bergman's Cinema. Except SnoBorderZero. You cool. And I guess Neverending, even if he was just fishing for the spank bank.
