Vax mandate for Boston. Finally.

The rightie coworkers in my messenger group chat are taking it as expected.

This is obviously staged, yet getting retweeted and covered in local radio websites if you Google.

Both my brother and brother in law are denialists in varying degrees. I'm sorry for ranting but this shit kinda wore me down the past two days. I'm not a quick thinker, and had to let far too much pass before snapping.

Wow, that's a lot to have to put up with. I honestly feel so many people are anxious and if they hang out in the denial zone , then it gives them just enough mental space to feel better in some way. Certainly not trying to say whats going on with your sister is ok, or anything like that. I'm constantly trying to wrap my head around the anti-vax and especially the anti-mask crowd and what makes them tick.

I haven't posted here in awhile and needing to vent because my holidays have gone to shit in a blink. I'm lucky in getting time off work, totally acknowledge that, but it feels likes it's being frittered away completely.

We were all to meet up at my in-laws on Christmas but someone decides to stray and not be smart about being out during Omicron and they got Covid and have now passed it along to their 1 year old son and husband, their FIL and MIL and BIL as they drove down from their place a week ago. Turns out my wife and daughter dropped by their place 2 days before the positive test and now our oldest daughter is sick. We are to get her tested this Thur but it is fitting the same profile as they are feeling (High fever, sore throat, tired.) Luckily no shortness of breath or coughing yet, please God that holds off as my daughter has issues with asthma.

So since then I have been anxious and laser focused on my kids' health. Worried who will come down next and of course how I will fare. Wife and I are double vaxxed and got our boosters Dec 23 but even so it seems Omicron doesn't really care about that as much. Not sleeping and anxious and this will probably play itself out into the New Year. I need some serious, deep dive, self care and it looks like that's not going to happen. So now my mind jumps to when I will be burning out in 2022 and how much fun that is to rebuild yourself mentally.

I have this mixture of anger and resignation going on. I'm angry that someone got us sick but then wonder when we would be getting it at some point too. Maybe the moral of the story is good in that we are getting Omicron versus Delta or the other fun ones? It's a reach but I would like for others to check in on me instead of my worrying about how they might be affected by what I say or do. My Mom is dead set against the vaccine and is isolating with my Dad and I can't even fall back on them because she is the type of person that I won't ever get to see them again if there is suspicion of having Covid. She thinks like Trump it's just going to eventually tip its hat to the world and walk out of our lives forever and it's not going to! I hate writing that but it's a reality and better to accept and adapt nnow. SO we are going to lie out faces off about how healthy we are which runs against my core but I feel out of options. Will try and limit phone contact to prevent that. Anyway, if you got this far, I appreciate it.

Got word of possible exposure Thursday night.

Used my one remaining rapid test from a previous scare, negative. Unable to find any rapid tests near me or deliverable before a PCR on Thursday.

Aside from the places that put up signs outside saying no rapid tests, I'm wondering if the pharmacies are putting them behind the pharmacy desk to avoid hoarding, or if they haven't been able to restock for 3 days.

Guess I'm working from home all this week.

Rapid tests in super short supply. I had to wait in line, outside, starting 5 am for 2 hours to get 1, 5 pack.

Both my work and my fiances work are forcing in office work (awesome) - so it's just a matter of time before we both catch it, both boosted and ready to take it down, I'm becoming fatalistic though I just want to catch it already. Get it over with and hopefully be super immune to the variants already out there and maybe the next one.

She's a bit more nervous about it but I just want to get it and be done with it already. Everyone I know who was vaxxed said they got sick for a few days and then it wasn't a big deal, boosted most said it was a day or two and by the time they got their pcr results their symptoms had faded to nothing.

Last few days have seen 3k-4k daily positives. Not sure the positivity rate but like everywhere I'm sure it's over 20%.

I feel like I am definitely getting it soon.  Its going through the town i teach in and likely students in the class who have it.

My whole family tested positive this past weekend after my kids' preschool had an outbreak. First 3 days sucked, but don't feel too bad as of now, more like a really bad cold. Was just about to get my booster too before it happened.
