Carnival of Souls. Awesome. Can't wait. Saw a new 35mm print of it a few years back and have been waiting for them to upgrade it.

I didn't realize Hulu has a Criterion section on it. I recently subscribed to it and I'm more impressed with it than Netflix. Hulu has less movies but way better quality ones.

The Criterion selection is literally the only reason to subscribe to Hulu. Even so, it still doesn't have all their titles.

Definitely. There's also Seinfeld, which was one of the main reasons I subscribed.

Still not worth it to me. Netflix (discs) and my local library has me covered for most of the Criterion stuff. Between cable, HBO, Netflix, and Amazon, I have enough monthly charges and I find all four of those things much more necessary.

I don't disagree. I pay for Hulu solely because my roommate coughs up for Netflix and HBO. I watch maybe 30 minutes of Hulu a month and any random Criterion movie that might catch my eye.

I dont know that I need an upgrade of New World. Maybe if it sounds significant enough.
Is Gold Rush out on Criterion yet?

In case anyone is interested: filmstruck.comThis would be a nice opportunity to still watch Criterions via streaming for those of you uninterested in Hulu.

Hulu has been lagging waaaaay behind on making newer Criterion titles available.

Not clear what that will offer which Hulu doesn't, especially given that Hulu offers a bunch of other stuff... Not that I'm that interested in either.

To back up Justin, hopefully they will add a bunch of titles that Hulu doesn't carry, namely most stuff that Criterion has released on DVD/blu-ray in the past year or two that isn't Chaplin, Bergman or Kurosawa.

Right. There are so many that I want to see, such as Brighter Summer Day, I Knew Her Well, Whit Stilman's work, etc. And those are just recent releases, not to mention the years worth of titles that have yet to make it onto Hulu. They've only just recently added Tati's work. Kind of ridiculous. There's probably a lot going on in the process of adding these films that I'm unaware of though.
Don't get me wrong, Hulu is nice because it offers other things like TV shows (...and movies, but their collection is mostly crap, honestly), but I'd be lying if I said I watched anything other than Seinfeld, the Criterions, Adult Swim stuff, and some anime. Plus, having to pay extra to not have commercials is a little annoying, but whatever.

I found a great deal on the recent Criterion release of Brief Encounter on ebay. Tracking said it was delivered...but it wasn't. 2 days went by and nothing showed up. Now I'm pissed a) because I don't have the movie and b) I don't want to get hosed, however I don't think ebay will leave me hanging in the wind. We'll see.

It's one thing to use eBay to shop for some rare item you can't get anywhere else, but it's the opposite of a hassle free shopping experience generally.

I've bought plenty on ebay before and have never had a problem. The first thing I look at is the seller rating. I just think someone tinkered with my package in transit. Oh well, as long as I get a refund I can hold off until the sale in July.
