Bryan Fuller left the show. Optimism in the franchise was nice for a while. Articles tend to include details beyond their titles. It's crazy, I know. Bryan Fuller has not left the show. Due to time constraints with other projects, he has stepped down as showrunner, handing over the reigns to Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts. So he's no longer heading up the series, but he will remain on as an executive producer and help with writing/refining stories. Bryan Fuller is no longer involved: www.ew.com/article/2016/12/02/star-trek-discovery-bryan-fuller

Jibbs Dracula WyldstaarRumor: Discovery takes place in 2255 when Captain Pike is in charge of the Enterprise. The show may revolve around the Klingon War and the events leading up to the Organian Peace Treaty from the original series.

I don't understand why they won't put this on CBS proper instead of their streaming service.
There is an audience, but not on a service that no one has or wants to download.

I don't understand why they won't put this on CBS proper instead of their streaming service. Because the show wouldn't do well for CBS standards (The Big Bang Theory gets, like, 20 million viewers) and the syndication market is dead. You'll hate to hear it, but the best alternative would be The CW. 90's Star Trek aired on UPN. It really isn't much of a stretch, especially since CW is very geek-friendly these days.

Deadly Games is the best thing that has aired on UPN, WB, or the WC.

"..always a reflection of what it means to be human." Um, no. I don't think so. I'd say this is true about the original Star Trek, but not TNG, DS9 or Voyager. The people in those shows were rarely human. The characters on them were the versions of humanity that Gene Roddenberry wished were true, but are not. They always sought peaceful resolutions to any potential threat, even when that threat was actively trying to kill them. This is not what humanity does. We are naturally aggressive and respond to violence with more violence, even if that's not the best solution. We often use violence as our initial reaction to anything we're uncertain about. This sort of human behavior occurred all the time in the original Star Trek, but was extremely rare in the series that followed it. On the rare occasions that someone did act like a human being, it was someone who wasn't a member of the crew, or was an alien.

Looks nice. I still wish it wasn't yet another prequel. I want Star Trek to go back to furthering the future.

That opening gave me awful flashbacks to Star Trek V, which also opened with two people in a desert. Aside from that, it looks interesting.

Premieres on September 24th On a streaming service no one uses. That's why Star Trek is the first program. Paramount was planning pretty much the same thing back in the 70's. They were going to launch a fourth TV network, with a relaunch of Star Trek as the premiere show.

Maybe I'm an old, but I zero interest in downloading it using more than 2 streaming services when I already pay for cable which provides a better service.

And they're naming Sonequa Martin Green's character Michael for some reason.

Okay, now that trailer looks pretty good. I suspect the actual series won't be anywhere near as action-packed, but the trailer was enough to make interested enough to give it a try.
