The casting of Iron Fist has finally been announced, and it's Finn Jones. Most people will know him as Loras Tyrell on Game of Thrones.

There are people seriously offended that they didn't change character to be Asian for the tv show.
Huh?

There are people seriously offended that they didn't change character to be Asian for the tv show. Huh? I'm not offended, but I am a bit disappointed. The number of Asian superheroes in Marvel Comics is extremely small, and many felt that this was an opportunity to be more progressive. Like most Marvel characters, Danny Rand aka Iron Fist was created in an era when heroes were white males and minorities were relegated to servants (Wong in Doctor Strange), reformed criminals who became sidekicks (Falcon in Captain America) and villains (The Mandarin in Iron Man). That's just the way things were done back then, and things are only slightly better today. Some were hoping that instead of a wealthy white couple taking their son to Kun'lun to learn the ways of magic martial arts, we might get a wealthy Chinese American family taking their son, who is happy with American ways, to Kun'lun to discover his past and himself as he learns the mystical martial arts.

On a related note, the Netflix series The Punisher began filming this week.

Looks bang average.
Is he playing N*Sync-era Justin Timberlake?

Just finished watching the first episode. The opening credits were clearly created by someone who saw the Hollywood remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo who thought to themselves, "Hey, that looks really cool. I think I'll rip that off, but use blandly generic music instead of a Led Zeppelin cover." The episode goes downhill from there. Whoever wrote this show has either never seen a Kung-Fu movie in their lives, or did, but thought it had far too much fun and action.

Episode Two is even more boring than episode one! NOTHING happens in this episode until the last two minutes! So little has occurred so far that if the first two episodes had been condensed into one, it would STILL be dull.

This show is pretty damn good so far.. I have no idea what critics are going on about.
This is way more engaging than Jessica Jones. Which is boring in my opinion.
Definitely check it out when you get a chance

Binged it this weekend. Its the weakest of the Marvel/Netflix shows but its not as bad as the reviews had me worried it would be. But I can see the complaints. The first half is pretty boring and its the cheesiest these shows have been but I thought it got a little better as it went on. Colleen Wing is great, big fan of Jessica Henwick after this.
1. Daredevil Season 1 2. Jessica Jones 3. Daredevil Season 2
Bit of a drop off
4. Luke Cage 5. Iron Fist
Still encouraged for The Defenders because even the worst parts of these shows have some really good characters.

You have the exact same order rating of the Netflix shows as I do, Dhamon22. Going into this series with greatly lowered expectations has helped, probably, but I'm still bummed out by it. Thank goodness it's not a week-to-week show, otherwise some of these episodes could be infuriating. I haven't finished it yet, but some of the editing/pacing, dialogue, and (yikes, how did this happen?) choreography so far isn't so good. Speaking of the choreography, why wouldn't they have gotten the same team from Daredevil? Did they? It's so much slower and messy, with super obvious punch pulls. I guess a lot of this could be blamed on the direction overall. It's not enough to put me off from The Defenders, nor stop me from finishing the series, but it is disappointing.

I found episode 5 to be good, and 6 to be above average. I think Iron Fist is a victim of the producers being too attached to the 13 episode format. There is an absurd amount of filler in the first six episodes. If these six had been just two episodes, they would have been solid. I've heard that the final seven episodes are better. I'm hoping it's true.

Episode 5 would have been good, IF it had good dialogue, better acting and a good director. Anyone noticed who's directing? None other than RZA, "Mister I Think I'm Shaolin". So, is Iron Fist even going to get a costume? Why does he need one? He goes around telling everyone is real identity. His whole character is poorly written. Intriguing, but disappointing. Just looked at IMDB. Too many different directors. No wonder it's inconsistent.

I just watched half of the first episode and it already feels off compared to the other Marvel Netflix shows. I dont know who the actor is, but he is the blandest of the bunch man. This feels like its going to be a long boring season. And the scene with the security guards, that was just terrible man. What a bummer

This explains a lot. Three weeks of martial arts training, followed by fifteen minutes practice before shooting a scene!

The only Marvel show with much entertainment value was Season 1 of Daredevil, so it makes sense this sucks too.

I finally managed to finish this bloody show last night. The final seven episodes picked up the pace slightly, but not nearly enough. I cannot recommend this show to anyone. Danny is a whiny little bitch that I never cared about. I can only hope that the Defenders version of Iron Fist will have his shit together.

It looks like he’s essentially replacing Daredevil, which is what he said he would do, but it’s great that that is addressed

Season two of Iron Fist becomes available this Friday. If the trailer is anything to go by, the new producers have listened to the myriad of complaints about season one, and made some serious adjustments. There are only ten episodes this time, so chances are the filler will be kept to a minimum. There looks to be several instances of Danny wearing a mask, so we can have a stuntman who actually knows how to fight for a change.
At a minimum, it looks as though Scott Buck may never work in Hollywood again. After ruining season one of Iron Fist and running Inhumans into the ground in such humiliating fashion, nobody will touch him with a ten meter cattle prod. Most in Hollywood would love to have the opportunity to have a guaranteed winner like a Marvel property on their resume, yet this idiot somehow managed to tank two series.
