I'd be down to see Shatner make a return. I just hope Orci doesn't have a directorial debut akin to Shatner's Star Trek debut.

Kurtzman was the one that wasn't really into Star Trek if I remember right, so at least they got the half of the writing duo that was actually a fan of the show.

I just felt the need for a change. I just got bored of the same thing for several years. I may change it back some day - just not today.

Oh, wow. I almost didn't notice the Star Trek forum. Having STAR Trek and STAR Wars next to each other messed with eyes for a second.

I would be VERY surprised if Edgar Wright gets the job. He couldn't get along with Marvel, so how is he gonna direct a sequel to J.J. Abrams movies without making studio executives nervous. Then again... he might be pissed off about the Marvel situation and might have something to prove. That's how Guy Ritchie ended up directing Sherlock Holmes.

Hey that's just the name that getting drop. I'm not surprised since Simon Pegg is involved but the bigger thing here is Orci is out.

Good news. Now if they just bring in another writer to work on his undoubtedly terrible script.
If Edgar Wright were to direct and do some rewrites, that would be amazing.

It doesn't matter who they have as a director if they keep going the route of the last movie. It was very groan inducing.

They'll probably hire Peter Berg since he fits the Abrams style.

I'm curious as to why Orci backed out on this one. I'm wondering if the studio is looking at this one as some important release due to it being the 50th anniversary plus it's now going to be competing with Star Wars. Maybe Abrahms (still producing I believe) didn't have much faith in Orci as a director? Curious to see what happens from here.
