I've heard that it's not great for a while, but the bare minimum 4K standard would be an upgrade over the ugly, non-animorphic DVD at this point.
I've heard Cameron has gotten very DNR happy in his old age. I really hope Aliens hasn't been scrubbed clean like Predator was back in the day.

I've heard that it's not great for a while, but the bare minimum 4K standard would be an upgrade over the ugly, non-animorphic DVD at this point. That's where I am. Besides, I actually don't own a 4K TV. The Blu Ray player I have in my bedroom has the ability to play 4K discs on it and my regular TV, so I'm getting it mainly for the regular Blu Ray. Also, I've seen screenshots of the 4K remaster, and...I get what people are saying...but I dunno, looks like something I'd still be able to put up with just fine.
I ordered The Abyss yesterday, too, just for the hell of it. Even though I didn't like it upon my first viewing during the pandemic...I dunno, I kinda still want to own it just on principle, given how elusive this thing has been for so long.

The Abyss by all accounts is the transfer that's fared the best, which is a relief, I definitely pre-ordered that on principal. I'm more wait-and-see on the other two.

It arrived today.
Who knows when The Abyss will get here, though. Probably should've pre-ordered it back in January like I did True Lies instead of this past Monday.

Did Disney really not think the demand/anticipation for these titles would be high?

At this point, I'm not expecting mine till April or May. Still no ETA, but I have a feeling that's what it'll be.
And at first, I was confused by your ordering, but now I see that it's by director and order of filmography. Nice.

... and yet I somehow managed to fuck up the order of The Abyss and Aliens.

The Abyss got here today, but not from Amazon. From Walmart. I got alerted to the fact that they had it in stock online this week, so I ordered Wednesday, it shipped Thursday and came today.
Meanwhile, Amazon still doesn't seem to know when they'll have it in stock.
