This just makes me think of Greg from On Cinema at the Cinema when he taped The Hobbit.

Agreed. Did Arrow get the distribution rights for ten bucks and half a meatball sub? That's the only reason I can think of why they'd even bother with this POS movie.

I've got loads of shitty movies in my library for the sake of having as complete a collection as possible in a particular section. I always get those as cheaply as possible though. I'd never get a special edition 4K of Howard the Duck (1986) from a boutique distributor. The plain jane DVD I got from a discount bin for two bucks fills the slot in my Marvel Movie section just fine.

I really enjoy Michael Mann but I’m fine without Blackhat which I know for a fact I would never, ever watch.

Even with a functioning VHS player, most video tapes have degraded over the decades. The last time I tried to watch a movie on VHS was Raiders of the Lost Ark. The audio was okay, but the screen was almost entirely black. Wound up running over to Best Buy real quick and buying it on DVD.

We still have a VHS. I mean, not hooked up, but we've got it.
How else am I supposed to watch the THX versions of Star Wars?

Speaking of Star Wars, are the 4K versions worth upgrading to?

Speaking of Star Wars, are the 4K versions worth upgrading to? They're not well liked. The original trilogy and The Phantom Menace have some frozen grain and noise reduction and the HDR is half-assed. Episodes II and III and the sequel trilogy are said to look good though. It's theorized that the 4K mastering was a rush job to make sure they got onto Disney+ in time for launch and they weren't given the love they needed as a result. They're not unwatchable or anything and I'm sure plenty of non-videophile nitpickers would be fine with them, but it is what it is.

If those are ever released they might be in the ‘once George Lucas has gone to the great beyond’ timeframe.
