Tenet grossed $2.1M domestically; total now at $48.3M. International gross is $7.7M. Worldwide total is $323.3M.
War With Grandpa opened domestically with $3.6M, dethroning Tenet from the top spot, after what, 6 weeks? So much for those legs.
1993’s Hocus Pocus made $1.16M.

Tenet made $1.6M. The movie has now reached $50M domestically. New York theatres open on the 23rd. Dracula, can we do 50 more? Worldwide, it's at $333M. Liam Neeson’s Honest Thief with $4.2M. That’s about half of what these post-Taken Liam Neeson movies make in their opening weekend. It’s possible the closure of Regal had more affect than Covid. I’m sure 1godzillafan would have been the first in line to see it. War with Grandpa with $2.5M. 2 week total is $7.2M. Tim Burton’s 1993 classic Nightmare Before Christmas made $1.3M. Over at Japan, the anime Demon Slayer opened to $51M. PG Cooper is excited for it to open in Canada someday.

For the first time, Tenet failed to crack a million dollars domestically. So much for those legs, eh? Universal’s horror flick Come Play made $3.5M. Liam Neeson’s Honest Thief still hanging on with $1.35M. And the War with Grandpa scraped by on $1.08M. Meanwhile, overseas, the anime Demon Slayer continues to break records in Japan. PG Cooper is on the verge of moving to Japan and making it his own personal Round 200.

Doomsdaywww.indiewire.com/2020/11/christopher-nolan-reacts-tenet-release-thrilled-worried-1234596818/Christopher Nolan Breaks Silence on ‘Tenet’ Release: Thrilled by Gross, Worried by Studio Reactions "I am worried that the studios are drawing the wrong conclusions from our release," Nolan says about "Tenet." Christopher Nolan is finally talking about Warner Bros.’ polarizing theatrical release of “Tenet,” which has so far grossed just under $350 million at the worldwide box office. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times to promote his involvement in Tom Shone’s new book “The Nolan Variations,” the director explained why the global rollout of “Tenet” has left him both thrilled and worried. While “Tenet” would have grossed far more than $350 million in non-pandemic times, Nolan believes the movie performed strongly enough in global markets to warrant the rebuilding of the exhibition market. “Warner Bros. released ‘Tenet,’ and I’m thrilled that it has made almost $350 million,” Nolan said. “But I am worried that the studios are drawing the wrong conclusions from our release — that rather than looking at where the film has worked well and how that can provide them with much needed revenue, they’re looking at where it hasn’t lived up to pre-COVID expectations and will start using that as an excuse to make exhibition take all the losses from the pandemic instead of getting in the game and adapting — or rebuilding our business, in other words.” Nolan added, “Long term, moviegoing is a part of life, like restaurants and everything else. But right now, everybody has to adapt to a new reality.” “Tenet” has succeeded better than expected at the international box office ($293 million), but it was considered a huge failure in the U.S. as the first major studio tentpole to open amid the pandemic. After three release delays (July 17 to July 31 to August 12 to September 3), Warner Bros. opened “Tenet” in U.S. theaters over Labor Day weekend. The film took in around $20 million during its first week and has since gone on to gross $53 million. The “Tenet” domestic gross suggested U.S. audiences were not ready to return to movie theaters in large numbers like they had been in international markets, and thus major studios pushed the majority of remaining fall tentpoles into 2021 (see “No Time to Die” and “Dune”) or onto streaming (“Soul” moving to Disney+). Movie theaters have since suffered due to a lack of new studio product being released. As of now, the Warner Bros. release for “Wonder Woman 1984” is the only live-action franchise tentpole left on the 2021 calendar. Disney/Fox’s “Free Guy” and “Death on the Nile” also remain in December. While “Tenet” was not a success story in the U.S., its worldwide total has been strong enough in the pandemic era to make Nolan optimistic about there being a future for exhibition. The director admits the future will be “a new reality,” but it’s a reality nonetheless. For Nolan, the industry should be paying more attention to the markets where “Tenet” performed well and studying the reasons why it succeeded than focusing on just the U.S. box office coming up short. Head to the Los Angeles Times’ website to read more from Nolan’s latest interview.

The Croods seems to be the kind of movie that would appeal to the kind of people who'd go to a movie theater at the absolute height of a pandemic, so maybe not such a shocker.

Tenet has finally crawled its way to $300 million internationally. Worldwide total is $357 million. But the real story this 5-day Thanksgiving weekend, which left Dracula and PG Cooper stunned, was the success of DreamWorks’ The Croods 2. It grossed $14.2 million domestically and $35 million worldwide. As PhantomKnight will be quick to point out, The Croods 2 is part of Comcast-Universal’s slate of movies which receive a very short theatrical window and then head to VOD right away. In the case of The Croods 2, it’ll be on VOD by Christmas where it’ll have to battle Pixar’s Soul on Disney+ and Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max. So this is a rare exception of a movie that’s benefiting from a theatrical release during the pandemic. And Doomsday is here wondering why Disney-Fox was too much of a pussy to pull Free Guy off the schedule. And with that, ladies and gentlemen, we pretty much conclude 2020 at the movies. There’s some other Universal releases that could make some noise at the box office. There’s some Oscar bait getting limited releases. But I think The Croods 2 is likely the last significant theatrical release. We started with Robert Downey Jr’s Dolittle and ended with The Croods 2. “What a year”, says SnoBorderZero. See y’all on Christmas for Soul and WW84. Except for IanTheCool who still doesn’t know how to get Netflix to work.

Doomsday SnoBorderZero 1godzillafan PhantomKnight PG Cooper Dracula Wonder Woman 1984 severely underperformed in China this weekend, grossing $18.7 million. It’s the lowest opening for the DCEU. To put it into greater perspective, it’s less than Mulan, which opened to $23.2 million and was considered a major flop in China. I know AT&T cares more about HBO Max than theatrical revenue, and HBO Max has seen subscriber growth in light of Wonder Woman 1984’s release on the platform, but this is terrible news for Warner Bros. If there was somewhere in the world where the movie could do business at the box office, it was China. As it stands, AT&T turned one of pre-Covid’s most anticipated movies of 2020 into a sacrificial lamb. That’s incredible. One for the history books. Meanwhile, 2020 came and went and we never got the new James Bond movie. You had one job, Apple+.
