I’m shocked it did over 200 million I thought this time it would be around 180 million.
The fact that people will continue to support this new trilogy let’s them know people are still hungry for Star Wars and it wasn’t just a One Time thing with Force Awakens

I agree this movie got criticism from fans and audiences, while Force Awakens played it safe and did nothing to upset the hive. Rain Johnson clearly wanted to make his Star Wars movie, and I appreciate that he did. Since we need these stories and characters to grow. Will that effect it’s box office? Keeping it from making over 2 billion this time? I guess we shall have to wait and see

Keeping it from making over 2 billion this time? The Force Awakens domestic total is $936 million. Any run-of-the-mill blockbuster can make a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. The money at home is what we're looking at. Rogue One made $532 million. Jurassic World made $652 million. Last Jedi is gonna fall somewhere around there.

Considering that only thirty-one films have passed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, that seems overly simplistic. This year there have only been three films to join the billion dollar club so far. Not even the juggernaut that is the MCU managed to have a film break the $1 billion mark in 2017.

Some films need higher domestic totals to reach that billion. Last Jedi is gonna make at least $600 million domestic. All it needs is $400 million internationally. Marvel failed because Guardians, Spidey and Thor couldn't get past the $300 million bracket.

The parameters you're describing are not common.

January is a great month to catch up on Oscar baits. I'll be seeing Ladybird, The Darkest Hour, and possibly that Tom Hanks one with Meryl Streep but I can't remember the name of it.

The people's eyebrow continues to dominate the box office in the new year. Jumanji was #1 with $36 million. When asked for their reaction, Doomsday Dracula and PG Cooper said Jumanji has reached $244 million since opening weekend. Is this The Rock's biggest hit outside the Fast & Furious series? Someone tell Tyrese! Insidious was #2 with $29 million. The Last Jedi dropped to #3 with $23 million. Total is now $572 million. Opening next weekend: The Communter, Paddington 2 and Proud Mary.

In 2009, Dracula was shocked to learn that Vin Diesel & Paul Walker managed to play Dr. Frankenstein & Igor and bring the Fast & Furious series back to life. That same franchise brought credibility to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s career after he’d wasted years making family-friendly movies. Now everything seems to have gone full circle as Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle continues to dick slap The Last Jedi at the box office. It grossed $35.4 million during this 4-day MLK weekend, bringing its domestic total to $291.5 million. As of now, it’s the 8th highest grossing film released in 2017 and could soon surpass Thor: Ragnarok, Stephen King’s It and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Worldwide, its made $674.6 million and is ranking at #12. Opening next weekend are 12 Strong and Den of Thieves.

Maze runner was shockingly bad. Granted I've never seen the first two, but holy shit. Just not good.

Good for The Greatest Showman. It's not gonna end up in my Top Ten of 2017 or anything, but I'm happy to see it continue to do well. Consistently been in the Top Five ever since its release.

Maze runner was shockingly bad. Granted I've never seen the first two, but holy shit. Just not good. I saw the first one. It started out fairly straightforward, but the ending fell apart because they wanted to set-up the sequel instead of providing a satisfying conclusion.

Maze Runner dethroned Jumanji from the top spot, but let’s not shed any tears. The movie has reached $338 million domestically, surpassing the grosses of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Stephen King’s IT. Worldwide, it’s at $822 million, surpassing Wonder Woman. Feminism wasn’t smelling what The Rock was cooking.
Opening on Friday is Winchester.

Opening on Friday is Winchester. This is the first time I've ever heard of the film. After doing a quick search, I've definitely never seen a trailer for it. Definitely a limited release.

Since the only way Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle can move up another slot in the rankings is to make another $200 million, the 2017 Top Ten List can now be called. Disney only landed four slots this time, but that's still two more than any of the other studios managed. It's nice to see a DC movie in the Top Ten that earned it's position through merit, rather than name recognition and marketing. As for Sony Pictures, they owe a great deal of their profits this year to other studios releasing mostly trash to compete with Jumanji, and Marvel Studios producing a quality Spidey film for them to distribute.
#1- Star Wars: The Last Jedi Disney #2- Beauty and the Beast Disney #3- The Fate of the Furious Universal #4- Despicable Me 3 Universal #5- Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Sony #6- Spider-Man: Homecoming Sony #7- Wolf Warrior 2 H Collective #8- Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 Disney #9- Thor: Ragnarok Disney #10- Wonder Woman WB
