I contributed to that Flubber total in 1997. You were alive in 1997? 7 years old, bruh. I distinctly remember seeing it after snowboarding in Lake Tahoe around Thanksgiving time. Good times. I also remember the long line at the theater was for Starship Troopers but had no idea what it was.

Is Mary Poppins adjusted for inflation, or is that really the box office take?

Beethoven's 2nd had a scene where the daughter almost gets raped and Beethoven, on a leash tied to a foundation support beam, literally rips half the house down. Ohh that Beethoven, always getting into trouble.

After 3 weeks of release, Beauty and the Beast has grossed $395 million domestically and $876 million worldwide. At this point, Dracula is the only person who hasn't seen this movie. You'll never catch him giving money to Disney. He rather pay for another movie and sneak into a Disney one, like, Alec Baldwin's The Boss Baby. That made $49 million in its opening weekend. More people went to watch Baldwin as a cartoon business baby than Donald Trump's inauguration. Sad! Speaking of which, Scarlett Johansson as the Ghost in the Shell only made $19 million. Maybe they should have cast a hot Asian in the role. That would have gotten teenage boys into the theater. It's not like they had college basketball to watch - right? Opening on Friday: The Smurfs

After a month in release, Beauty and the Beast has grossed $432 million domestically and $977 million worldwide. Although by tomorrow they might announce it reached a billion. Foreign numbers still coming in as we speak.
Opening on Friday is The Fate of the Furious.

As a fan of the Alamo Drafthouse I feel obligated to point out that Colossal is also opening on Friday, and is getting positive reviews (73% on RT with 77 reviews). It's being distributed by NEON, formerly known as Drafthouse Films.

Has anyone combined Pixar's Coco and that OT Genasis song into a meme yet? Not to my knowledge. The trailer for Coco arrived and left with no fanfare. It could turn out to be another Good Dinosaur for Pixar. If there are any holes in Disney's strategy it's their Disney Animation and Pixar Animation juggling act. Sometimes we get two Pixar movies (Inside Out / Good Dinosaur). Sometimes we get two Disney Animation movies (Zootopia / Moana) with a Pixar movie in between (Finding Dory). And the success rate has been inconsistent. They gotta trim the fat like they were doing earlier in the decade like when they released a Pixar movie in the summer (Brave), a Disney Animation movie in the winter (Wreck It Ralph) and an oddball choice in between (Frankenweenie).

It's gonna be a big year for Disney again. I just did a quick check of what the final tally was for 2016, and Disney seriously crushed the box office last year. For the Worldwide box office, they took the entire top five ( Civil War, Rogue One, Finding Dory, Zootopia & The Jungle Book) as well as spots eleven and twelve ( Dr. Strange & Moana).

This religious weekend, people spent time with family. Not their family, Vin Diesel and family. Fast & Furious 8 grossed $100 million. They didn't need a dead Paul Walker and a Whiz Khalifa song to get butts in the theater, just the promise of The Rock and Jason Statham bromancing. Oh - and the gang being chased by a Russian submarine.
Opening on Friday.......... damn.......... nothing of significance opens until Guardians of the Galaxy.
