It's hard to believe that Civil War is tracking to beat Batman v Superman at the box office. Even in my most pessimistic speculations about how bad BvS would be, I was sure that it would reign as the top comic book movie of 2016. There was no way it wouldn't manage to break $1 billion, but now it looks like they'll be lucky if they can limp along to $900 million. For a film that needed $800 million just to break even, that's kinda pathetic. Is it really shocking? Civil War is a sequel to Winter Soldier. Batman vs Superman is a sequel to Man of Steel.

You cant really Beat RDJ in a Marvel Movie at the Box Office. B V S was not gonna do better then 360 domestically in my opinion. Marvel film appeal more too kids then DC as well.

Looks like Civil War has essentially no competition next week, and has good word of mouth to carry it forward. I knew BvS couldn't stay in the top spot for long, but I figured it would be Captain America that dethroned it first. Good on Zootopia for demonstrating that quality beats flash without substance in the long run. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney ultimately holds more than half of the Top 10 spots for 2016 at the box office.

Disney broke the domestic box office record, hitting 1 billion in 128 days, a record broke just last year by Universal in 165 days.
If it wasn't for Universal's insane run of hits last year, Disney probably would have come out on top for the first time since 2003. FOX isn't that far behind, but it's looking like 2016 may more than likely be Disney's year. They still have a lot of movies left under their belt and they could possibly break Universal's 2.44 billion record from last year as well.

It looks as though Alice Through The Looking Glass may be Disney's first serious stumble of the year. Perhaps the foreign market will be able to save it, because the interest domestically is negligible. Considering how successful the first one was, I'm surprised at it's reception. ATTLG made less on it's opening weekend than Alice in Wonderland did in it's THIRD weekend.

Crazy how making a billion is just something that happens now. Inflation + Increased Global Distribution + Increased Global Population + Increased Global Pool of Money = Billion Dollar Movies.

The #1 movie this weekend is Conjuring 2 with $40.3 million. Warcraft is #2 with $24.3 million. Worldwide, it has grossed $286.1 million. You can thank China. In other news, The Jungle Book has made $909.8 million worldwide. Disney has the 3 highest grossing movies of the year. Great time to be a Disney stockholder. Wyldstaar regrets wasting his money on Time Warner. Opening on Thursday is Finding Dory. Disney, can we make it 4?

Shrek the Third - $121.6 million Minions - $115.7 million Toy Story 3 - $110.3 million Shrek 2 - $108 million Inside Out - $90.4 million Adjusted Shrek the Third - $151.6 million Shrek 2 - $149.2 million Minions - $120.3 million Toy Story 3 - $120.1 million Finding Nemo - $99.9 million Although, the Shrek movies opened on holiday weekends, if I'm not mistaken. So that's probably what sshuttari is talking about.
