Final numbers are in and I have good news and bad news for SnoBorderZero . After two weeks of release, Deadpool has grossed $236.8 million domestically and $493 million worldwide. As Dracula pointed out earlier, that is, indeed, higher than any X-Men movie unless you adjust for inflation. But even then, we're talking about two weeks worth of money. It's entirely possible for Deadpool to surpass all X-Men movies financially. Now for the bad news. The biblical epic, Risen, made more money than the satanic horror flick, The Witch. Opening on Friday is Eddie the Eagle, Gods of Egypt and Triple 9.

For Christians a well done Hollywood film on their faith is always going to guarantee decent money at the Box Office...

I'm very curious what numbers Batman v Superman will rake in. I think it'll do well initially, but won't have any legs.

I think it could straight up tank... at least by the standards of such a project. I feel like I liked Man of Steel more than 95% of people and even I can barely muster any enthusiasm going into BvS:DoJ

Yeah, this should be a huge movie. We have arguably the two most iconic superheroes fighting each other in a movie. And even though there's hype and there's been big marketing... I dunno. Even my friends that usually don't like arthouse films and are all about comic book movies don't care. They're pumped for Civil War but don't really want to see this because they thought Man of Steel sucked.

Considering the poor word-of-mouth, Warner Bros might start to get worried.

What a weekend - and it's not even Summer yet.
The much hated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice grossed an estimated $170 million domestically and $424 million worldwide. It needs to gross at least $800 million worldwide just to break even.
Meanwhile, Zootopia is quietly on track to become the highest grossing film of the year - so far. It is about to gross $700 million worldwide and is only about $50 million away from surpassing Deadpool. Domestically, Deadpool is still comfortably at #1. It has grossed $349 million while Zootopia is at $240 million.

Have WB let slip how much money they got paid for product placement from the folks at Oil of Olay, Jolly Rancher, Jeep, Turkish Airlines, Converse and all the rest? Man of Steel had around $160 million in product placement. I suspect that the amount this time around is a bit lower, since none of the big fights took place inside an IHOP or beneath a giant Sears sign. It's still probably pretty high, though.

Warner Bros. spent a shit ton on marketing. They knew this movie sucked and did everything they could to ensure the biggest opening possible. $400+ million worldwide for 3-4 days is pretty good. When it's all said & done, they'll probably make the $800 million they need.

Final numbers are in and they're lower than estimated. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice grossed $166 million domestically and $420 million worldwide. For comparisons sake, The Dark Knight opened with $158 million domestically in 2008 when ticket prices were lower and it didn't have 3D subcharges. Adjusted for inflation, The Dark Knight opened with nearly $192 million. The closest companion to Batman v Superman is Iron Man 2. It opened in 2010, minus 3D, with $128 million domestically. It disappointed most people and went on to gross $312 million. Add inflation and 3D subcharges and that's where you can expect Batman v Superman to head. I predict close to $400 million domestically, and possibly, close to a billion worldwide. Warner Bros probably isn't too upset.

It makes me curious as to how this will impact the reception of future DC movies. Sure there are plenty of people who will be suckered to seeing anything so long as a character is '_____man' but there are a lot of casual moviegoers too who might think 'I've been hosed twice by these chumps, I think I'll wait for redbox.'

Really, it comes down to Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. Neither are directed by Zack Snyder. If people like them and they do well financially, people might be willing to give Justice League a chance. The average joe doesn't know Zack Snyder is. They'll just see it as a DC movie.

There's a good chance they don't even know which movies are DC and which ones are Marvel. There are a lot of people thinking that the disappointment for BvS could hurt Civil War just because people don't think about the fact that different companies are involved.

I think it'll have a massive drop-off. What could possibly be gained from a second viewing of this? I always figured it to have the big opening weekend it did, and then fall by about $100 mil domestically this next weekend. Maybe even more. Granted there isn't any competition for it, but for the most part I feel like the ones who really wanted to see it already did.

It'll be interesting to see how next weekend plays out. I think it'll have a massive drop-off. Batman v Superman doesn't have any real competition until The Jungle Book which is 3 weeks away. Hardcore Henry and The Boss COULD dethrone it, but I think Warner Bros. will survive till mid-April. Man of Steel managed to gross $291 million in the summer and people hated that movie too.

True, it has nothing to truly compete with it for some time, and so for that saving grace it'll likely not see the drop-off it normally would. I don't think anyone ever doubted it would make money, but Warner Bros. still has to be somewhat concerned about all the negativity.
