The only people that make lazier movies than Kevin Hart are Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Marlon Wayans. And yet their movies make money. Representation of the people paying to see these shit movies? Yeah, I'd say there's a definite correlation. Have you seen the trailer for Kevin Hart's next movie?

Because of blizzards on the east coast, hundreds of theaters were closed this weekend and the box office suffered because of it.
The #1 movie this weekend is The Revenant with $16 million. Its domestic total is $119 million.
Opening on Friday is Kung Fu Panda 3, Fifty Shades of Black and The Finest Hour.

It was a great weekend for SnoBorderZero and his offspring's. Instead of paying his monthly child support, he took them to watch Kung Fu Panda 3 and was surprised to see the theater packed. It grossed $41 million this weekend. That's in the same ballpark as the other Kung Fu Panda's. Opening on Friday is Hail, Caesar.

Hah. The idea that the quality of his film could have any effect on the box office is laughable. Though not a very surprising post.

The idea that the quality of his film could have any effect on the box office is laughable. True. Star Wars sells itself. Even the prequels were box office hits. But J.J. Abrams set the bar very high in terms of revenue. If Star Wars 8 doesn't make $1 billion domestically and $3 billion worldwide, people are gonna talk shit.

This was an "event ten years in the making" and likely attracted a lot of people who don't even really care about Star Wars, the second one will probably have a much harder job attracting people who are outside the usual fanbase. Make no mistake, it will easily be in the top ten (probably top five) highest gossing movies, but it won't outdo TFA.

A lot of the revenue just came from fanboys who cried over prequels and finally got the movie they wanted to see... which was basically "A New Hope" for a new generation. Will this hold up? Probably not since the next movie will delve more into new territories the series hasn't gone before...

I think the real question is what kind of box office these spinoff movies will do. I'm sure that pretty much anything with the Star Wars logo on the poster is guaranteed to make 300 to 400 minimum, but will they be megahits like this? Probably depends on if they're any good.

Looks like "Deadpool" is off to make a 100 million plus this weekend... First to ever achieve for a Rated R film...
Also good news on a sequel too.

The domestic take alone for Deadpool this weekend is enough to cover the budget and the marketing costs of the film. With any luck, the profits from Deadpool will be able to make up for the tremendous loss Fox took with last year's epic fail Fant4stic and then some.

I know, I was thinking the same thing. This means they will try really hard to get Deadpool in a X-Men movie... Since Hugh Jackman is now done.

It's had one of the best marketing campaigns in movie history. Combine that with early, good word-of-mouth, and it's all paid off for them.
