I could probably do one of those if we're doing repeat appearances. Just let me know when/if I'm needed. Wanna do the 40s? Yeah, I can probably do that.

I'm trying out a couple of podcasts with the same premise. They only watch the first and the last episode of a tv series. The first is Too Long Didnt Watch, which is a more professional podcast from Rolling Stones (i think), where the host brings on minor celebrities who have never seen the show. The other one is a more amateur but longer running series called First and Last.
I tend to shy away from the more professionally made podcasts as a rule, but Too Long Didnt Watch has been good. The structure is solid and its not too long. There are only a few episodes though.
First and Last has a much more extensive catalogue, and the hosts are quite good. The problem is that they aren't always going into these shows fresh, which goes against the premise a bit. But they will have at least one person who is going into the show fresh, so that's good.

Dan Carlin has part 6 up for Supernova in the East.
Just like the Death Throes of the Republic and the Blueprint for Armageddon he goes long.
5 hrs and 43 minute long episode.
Gonna take me a while for this one, but am probably going to go back and download this miniseries like those other two. I've revisited both of them about once a year since my initial listen.

I watched Branagh's Henry V yesterday because it was on one of the earlier Cinema in Seconds podcasts. Really good stuff, I guess I didn't know what to expect since I've never read Henry V but the more I watched the more involved I got. There were a couple issues I had with it and I'm not sure if it's a beef with the source or if it's in the translation to film but there were a few things that felt like they didn't amount to too much in the grand scheme of things, namely the three traitors. Maybe there's a theme there but I must have missed it. But really fun watch all around, I'll have to go back and relisten to the episode where you guys talk about it.
And that score is great. I've listened to this track a number of times already.

I'm willing to let a lot of faults slide because of that battlefield sequence, nailing the famous speeches, and the damn exhilaration from the narrator introduction. I'm not sure I really ever want to read the play after seeing this.

I'm not sure I really ever want to read the play after seeing this. The battle scene was great. I actually read a little bit about the battle of Agincourt after watching the movie and it's pretty fascinating, a severely outnumbered English army beating the shit out of the much larger and better armed French. I enjoy reading about classical history and it reminded me of Marathon where the outnumbered citizen soldier Athenians kick the crap out of the invading Persians but reading about events like Agincourt remind me that there's a lot of medieval history that would be great to bone up on.

Okay, this intrigues me. Is it based on tv or books? Seems the books - treats Martin as a historian he is quoting in relaying the history of Westeros. But he's imitating Carlin's gravelly voice, so you may tire of it quickly if listening to too much at once.
