I like to think that there was a meeting with a few people sitting around a table trying to think of what gadgets to include. About an hour in someone goes 'ahh eff it, just make his car invisible already.' Then everyone nods in agreement before taking an early lunch.

Don't listen to them, it's an awful movie. You listed most of the awful stuff. Though you did forget when Bond gave himself a heart attack with his mind.

Yeah, why are we apologizing for Die Another Day? It's a lazy piece of shit and deserves the flack it receives. It doesn't matter what it tried to model itself after or if it was supposed to be campy; it failed miserably. That's like excusing Batman and Robin since that film didn't take itself seriously. Die Another Day is the worst in the series for a reason, actually several reasons.

The ice palace car chase is good fun, there are a million references to the older movies that are fun to play Where's Waldo with, the fight between Halle Berry and Rosmund Pike is fun, the hovercraft chase mostly works, and Brosnan is a great Bond who just sort of elevates whatever he's in.

I'm open to alternate interpretations. I just meant I was very confused as to what was happening at that part.

It's not the worst movie I've ever seen, and I do agree that Brosnan was a terrific Bond that deserved better material, but this edges out Moonraker as worst in the series for me. It might be more fun than other Bonds, but it's still worse than them.

Any of you who sit here and defend Die Another Day have no standing when criticizing The Man with The Golden Gun.
At least that movie was fun and had a midget and a three-nippled Christopher Lee.

The problem with TMWTGG isn't that's it's silly, it's that its production values were kind of lacking. They were clearly cutting the budgets in the early 70s. It lacks the spectacle and the sophistication of something like The Spy Who Loved Me.

The Man with the Golden Gun is just kind of disappointing considering its Most Dangerous Game concept and Christopher Lee as the villain. It just really could've and should've been so much more than it was. It came out the year after Live and Let Die, so that could explain it being a bit rushed.

It was more budget related than time related, plus lousy script and poor direction. Sean Connery's first four movies were made in a row and didn't suffer.

Crazy to think those first four brilliant movies were consecutive. They even got Thunderball out in one year with all of those groundbreaking underwater shots.

I was thinking that there may actually be continuity within the series, if we assume that James Bond is a position filled by different agents throughout the years, as is M and Q. But then I realized that Felix Lighter's appearance in Casino Royale completely wrecks this concept.

But then I realized that Felix Lighter's appearance in Casino Royale completely wrecks this concept. The "Bond is a title held by different agents" theory has never held up to scrutiny. The wife killed in OHMSS has been brought up in Moore movies and Dalton movies, they're all the same guy up to the reboot.

But then I realized that Felix Lighter's appearance in Casino Royale completely wrecks this concept. You can make the argument that Sean Connery, George Lazenby and Roger Moore played the same James Bond and that Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan played the same James Bond. But generally, I think the franchise "reboots" itself with each new actor.
